    1. [HANCOCK-L] Warning--don't load XP as yet.

    3. Such sad news. They told me at the shop to load XP to overcome all the ME problems on my one year old computer. I now have had no computer to use since the 25th. It is not compatible with my Word Perfect files, my printer, most of the programs I am running. After talking to the general manager of Comp-USA last night I now have a Sr. tech coming who will attempt to remove it from my computer and reinstall ME without losing all my data. I have my stuff all backed up on a zip drive but it won't work with it either. Tried to load AOL and the help person said to go to Walmart or K-mart and get AOL 7.0 and then load it. the dozens of AOL 6.0 will not work. We drove about 100 miles last night to said stores and the computer stores and no one has it as yet. They will send it to me in a couple of weeks they said when I called again. None of the drivers are ready for XP. Oh yes, Outlook Express also has a bug in it and is not compatible either. Microsoft strikes again! They also told me that I would have to update my Word Perfect 7.0 or get the Microsoft program(Word??) so I could read them. So my files are in never never land. I can see them but can't open them. As to my Family Origins, It keeps asking me to put them into a format that can be read as they seem to be old files that need updating. I have the newest version and they are updated! I've shed a lot of tears. Hense I have been cleaning out the den and my stacks of files(remember the book or movie"My Brother's Keeper"?) I've thrown out 2 files drawers of old material, and have found lots of stuff to input. I did not throw out the Hancock files however. So if I ever get my computer back in shape, I will start posting the stuff I have found. Much of it is OLD stuff I haven't looked at in years. Letters from old timers back in the 80s. Pray for my computer please! Helene
