Hi, This is some information that I got at my local library. It may help someone. The following Hancocks got bounty land in Georgia because they were either soldiers or patriot citizens during the Revolutionary War. This is the book where I found this infomation. "Index to The Headrights and Bounty Grants of Georgia 1756-1909", by Rev. Silas Emmett Lucas Jr. Duglass Hancock got 112 acres in Jefferson , County GA in 1798. Durham Hancock got 700 acres in Tattnall County, GA between 1820-1821. Isham Hancock got 308 acres in Franklin County, Ga between 1803-1814. James Hancock got 4, 654 acres in the following GA counties: Ema nuel, Montgomery, and Tattnall between 1801-1851. Jeremiah Hancock got 496 acres in Bulloch County, GA in 1832. Joseph Hancock got 343 acres in Richmond and Warren Counties in GA. between 1798-1811. Joston Hancock got 100 acres in Tattnall County, Ga in 1825. May Hancock (widow?) got 400 acres in Habersham County, Ga in 1835. Shadrack Hancock got 2,075 acres intattnall Count, Ga between 1835-1838. William Hancock got 1,360 acres (probably more because one amount was not listed.) in Tattmnall and Jackson Counties, GA between 1819-1854. Also, I found this in the abstract of the will of John Tarrance of Edgefield S.C. 1825. Here is the book it came from: "Edgefield County , South Carolina Wills 1787-1836 " by James E. and Vivian Wooley "I give my sister Martha Hancock the wife of George Hancock & her children 100 acres to be laid out aroud the house where said Hancock now lives, to be taken from a tract of 640 acres granted to myself."
