At the Weakley County Library I found indexes to the 1840 census for Tennessee. the 1860 census for Tn, 1870 census for Tn.1830 census for Tn. Early West Tn marriages by Bride and by Groom. and Tennessee Mortality Schedules 1850-1880. The lists of Hancocks are long. If you need details about anyone, please reply. I found that my gg grandfather Harrison Hancock married Mariah Collins in 1855 in Obion Co. He is listed in the census in 1860 in Weakley Co. His oldest son was born before the marriage, probably the child of a first marriage and they had a 6 month old son names George. I went through all the deed books 1825-1898. No Hancock's owned property in Weakley County during these years. He worked as a cooper according to the census. A cooper builds barrels unless someone knows something else. The mortality schedule says George Hancock dies at 1 yr in Maury county Tn. (1860) So they moved. Later they had to come back north as his son settled in western Ky near the Tn line. I found more info that might help someone. In Weakley County cemeteries Vol II by James Buckley, NSDAR I found Hancock, Zimri Dec. 6 1835-Feb 10, 1908 Hancock, Dersey (?) died August 25, 1906 age 19 yr 4 m. Weakley Co.
