My mother said that her daddy's HANCOCK family was never talked about. She is the one who got me started with this genealogy research of the HANCOCK family. Her father was E. L. HANCOCK b. in GA (in Taliferro Co). All she knew was that her daddy's father died when he was 5 years old and his mother remarried. We were able to find that her grandfather's name was James A. HANCOCK b. 1850 and was the son of George HANCOCK b. 1827 or 1829 (don't know where) who was married to Elizabeth O'NEAL in 1847 in Greene Co, GA. James A Hancock had a brother, Henry HANCOCK born 2 years after James. I've never found out what happened to George or who his parents were but Elizabeth married L. B. (Aaron?) DAVIS in 1853 in Greene County shortly after Henry was born. Jasper County is very close to Greene and Taliferro County area and there could be a connection with yours. Do you have anymore names that I might be able to recognize?
