    1. [HANCOCK-L] Bio referring to John Hancock & Frances Farrar

    3. Hi again Rena, You mentioned that these were written in Christina Co. Ky. Histories. Do you know when that portion was written about John Hancock? I am interested in the year it was written because of the reference to Bull Hancock. Could they be referring to John Hancock, or his son. John Hancock was the first Hancock to come to Virginia, and died in the Indian attack of 1622. He did have a son who came to VA to claim his estate. This John Hancock, the immigrant was a ship builder in England. He did have land in VA. Could he have been called Bull Hancock? > John Hancock, born in Virginia on June 18, 1766, married Frances > Farrar December 14, 1791, was the son of Anne Thomas and Major Hancock > who was the son of Benjamin Hancock who traces back to Bull Hancock > who was a ship captain in the King's Navy in the early years of the > Jamestown colony. After making many successful voyages between this > country and England was given land in Virginia by King Charles I. Ardath

    3. I typed in the whole bio. I thought myself that "Bull" was probably a nick-name. The book is printed (I think) once every 10 years. this is one of 2500 printed 1986 by Turner Publishing Co. copyrighted 1986 by Christian Co. Genealogical Society They are printed in Paducah Ky. Probably turned in to them as they get it together to be printed maybe a year or less before print date. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ardath Buckaway" <bqueen@compusmart.ab.ca> To: <HANCOCK-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, October 27, 2001 8:06 PM Subject: [HANCOCK-L] Bio referring to John Hancock & Frances Farrar Hi again Rena, You mentioned that these were written in Christina Co. 3. Ardath, I have tried for years to identify the parents of Benjamin Hancock and Jane. I did not know they could be traced back further. Who were Benjamin's parents? I am descended from Major Hancock, son of Benjamin. Eldon J.
