    1. [HANCOCK-L] Hector Hancock-quick question-source of dates?
    2. volleymom
    3. Lisa, As I keep searching for more information on Hector, I keep coming across specific dates for him-2 Aug 1712 for his birth, and 5 Sept 1732 for his marriage. Do you know if these are documented dates and if so where they came from ( the source?). After finding that Petition list in South Carolina with his name on it, I have wondered if there were possibly 2 Hector's. I cannot find anywhere that has the sources listed for these supposed dates. It would be great if he really were from your line because it goes back so far. Also, do you know of a William Hancock who was master of the ship the Dolphin in 1708-1714(I don't know if he was master the whole time, but he was for at least 3 or 4 years according to a website I found. It made an expedition to the island next to St. Kitt's down by Barbados, in 1712 I think. I have wondered if he was Hector's father-since he is also a William, and Hector was a cooper by trade, it is a possibility. Does anyone else on this line have any more information on this question? Thanks, Becky

    3. Becky, Sorry to say, but Hector is still a big mystery to me. I think I remember seeing a reference to a William as headmaster on a ship, but had forgotten about it until you mentioned it. I don't know if the dates on Hector are documented, and will have to look back to see if his marriage is documented. This fellow really knew how to make us have to really dig to find out much on him!
