    2. Hi all, I found the following in this source: “Entry of Claims for Georgia Landholders 1733-1755” by Mrs. Pat Bryant Deputy Surveyor General of the Georgia Surveyor General Department Office of the Secretary of State, 1975. Explanatory notes: Introduction p.xi-xii “ Each free white male was allotted 50 acres of land which consisted of a town lot 60 feet by 90 feet, five acres for a garden lot, and the balance of 45+ acres for a farm lot. No more than 500 acres were to be allotted to anyone person. Fee simple titles to the land were not given by the Trustees (of Georgia). As a corporation, they held all titles to chartered lands.” “The Trustees were to keep the charter for 21 years, but on June 20, 1752, one year early, they relinquished it to George II, and the seal was defaced. Georgia was now a Royal Providence.” “Not until August 6, 1754 did the Crown commission John Reynolds of England as Captain -General and Governor-in Chief in and over the Province of Georgia. One of the governor’s first acts was to deal with the problem of land titles Titles were to be transferred from the Corporate body of the Trustees to the governmental body of the English Crown. On January 1, 1755, Reynolds issued a proclaimation. “...to give publick notice that all such persons as hold or possess any lands within his Majesty’s Colony of Georgia, by virtue of grants from the late Trustees... shall be finally released from all conditions of such grants....” Fresh grants were to be issued in his Majesty’s name under the public seal of the new colony and persons should appear by thenselves, or their attorneys could appear for them.” “Reynolds also noted that all persons to whom he had issued warrants (land) for surveys of land, should, forwith, “...apply to the Surveyor General to have their land laid out...” He said that quit rents should be paid on their property. Grants of land in his Majesty’s name were subject to payment of two shillings sterling for every hundred acres. Five acres were to be cleared for every 100 acres.” All lands are near Savannah, Georgia. Transactions were about 1750. p.5 “Claimant’s name: Peter Baillou by Charles Waston (probably the attorney) Acres: 200 Situation of lands: On the north side of said river (Midway River south of Savannah, GA) called Plumb Park formerly HANCOCKS purchased by the said Baillou of John Milledge.
