    3. That's interesting because I am a HANCOCK descendent on my mother's side. She was told by doctors back in the 1940s (after 3 miscarriages) that she would never be able to have children. Of course she did have me but after she was 38 years old. My sister, born 3 years later, did also have a miscarriage but it was hard for her to become pregnant in the first place. After the miscarriage, it was years before she was able to become pregnant again. I cannot connect my HANCOCK line to any on the list so far but I am also working with very limited information. My grandfather died at a fairly young age (54) almost 20 years before I was born but I don't know the cause. His father died when he was just 5 years old. Again I do not know the cause of death but he was not very old either. I wondered if there could be a connection after reading this message. ----- Original Message ----- From: Gladys and Walter To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, October 07, 2003 3:42 PM Subject: [HANCOCK-L] DNA Hello, I descend from and am looking for any descendant of James Hancock born 19 October 1802 in Franklin Co., KY and who married Rachel Stansbury born 28 June 1806 in Baltimore Co., MD. It is possible that they have inherited a blood clotting disorder called "Factor V Leiden. My father, my self and my son are carries of this disorder and I am trying to find out whether or not the disorder came through my father's paternal line of TOVREA from ages back, or if a female ancestor brought with her in marriage. Factor V Leiden can not skip a generation so you have to have a parent with the disorder in order to inherit it. This disorder causes abnormal blood clotting, so if anyone who is a descendant of James Hancock and Rachel Stansburh and has a family history of clotting, DVT's, strokes, miscarriages please contact me. Thank you, Gladys Tovrea-Brandstoettner ==== HANCOCK Mailing List ==== Questions about this list? Feel free to contact the listowner for help at: <[email protected]>
