Julia, When I ordered the DNA kit for my father earlier this week, my cost was much higher than what you quoted below. I signed up for the 25 marker test for $231. The 12 marker test was $159. My order confirmation says that I am getting the Y-DNAPlus test from Family Tree DNA. This company apparently has two ordering sites on the web and the price is different on each site. I ordered from http://www.familytreedna.com/order_form.asp. The other site (http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=C11261) is cheaper but it's the same company. I guess I need to contact them and find out what's happening. Yes, but, unless they are genealogy researchers, they may not understand the importance of the DNA testing or want to spend the money. As you know, it requires a male of the surname of Hancock. A match with another Hancock participant proves that they are from the same line, so the desire is to match with someone who has proven their line way back. We have 18 participants to date, so the chances for matches is getting better and better, We have many matches, and have identified four separate lines at this time. The cost is $99.00 for the 12 marker test and $169.00 for the 25 marker test. Let me know if there are more questions.
