Cleveland Necrology Index Researchers with ancestors in the Cleveland, Ohio, area will be interested in the Cleveland Necrology File, a new online database of Cleveland area obituaries from the mid-1800s through 1975. Hosted by the Cleveland Public Library at http://www.cpl.org, the database is fully searchable and contains newspaper obituary information in the form of name, date, newspaper source, and a summary of the important facts from the death notice (spouse, survivors, funeral arrangements). A reference to the microfilm reel number on which the obituary file is contained is also provided. The database was produced from a microfilmed copy of an alphabetical card file containing local cemetery records and newspaper death notices gathered by the staff of the Cleveland Public Library. - George G.
