> Hi Everyone, I'm new to doing a geneaology search and much of the terminology is foreign to me, as well as the formatting and all the little numbers on the lists I have seen. I also have no idea how to make a "gedcom" or even what it is. I'm starting with info handwritten by my Grandmother and Aunt, plus my additions. After looking at other listings, it really is bare bones. Hopefully, someone can help me make some connections and offer some advice. If folks are still living, do I need their permission to list them? Information about any of the people here would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help. Linda Watson John Louis Hancock b. Nov 26, 1866 or 69 d. March 16, 1940 m. 1886 or 1887 Mary Isabelle Neal B Dec.23.1870 d. Aug.27.1914 TX. Mary was raised by her maternal grandmother, Granny Buck. They were both indentured and Granny Buck took Mary to the Hancock plantation to work. After marrying her, John was ostracized by his family. Mary died giving birth at home along with the baby. Through the wall, Alice Catherine, heard her mother state to the doctor, "I'm going to die, aren't I?" To which he replied, "Yes, and so will the baby." After Mary died, John destroyed all but one of the photographs of Granny Buck. When his 12-year-old daughter Lois realized what he was doing, she hid the photo, saving it from destruction.
