Hello fellow Hancock's, I am 61 yr.old and have always heard that the term Crackers was a slur,like a racial remark.You hear the term Ga.Crackers.My understanding these were poor tenant farmers,sometimes mixed race that were not schooled people and made a living as best they could from the land and made a little moonshine on the side. Now this is what I have heard so read it with a grain of salt(southern term,could be true or not). Mary
