    1. [HANCOCK-L] Hancock Project Question

    3. Hello Everyone, I need some help finding my line on the Hancock Project. When I clinked on the link for James Hancock and Tamar Jones' son, James, I found not Jestern, but another James with a spouse named Sidney Loftin. I did a search for Jestern in the index and found nothing. I also couldn't find their daughter, Sarah Hancock, who married Wright Douglas. I am almost positive they were included in the project back in the beginning. Have I missed something? O.K. I just realized that there's a chart # 4 (not clickable) with James and Jestern. (How can I access chart # 4?) So is this James not the son of James and Tamar? I found him still listed as such on Lisa's site. I remember some questions about some data sometime back, but I thought it involved earlier Hancocks. Do I need to add more information so that y'all are clearer on which line I'm talking about? I thought my Hancocks went back to William who came over to Jamestown in 1609. What happened? Confused. Mitzi

    3. Mitzi, In reply to your message, first I want to say that the information you are questioning is incorrect on my website. I refused to give yahoo the contents of the website and they have now locked it so I cannot touch it, so I can't make the corrections. I am in the process of having it taken completely down, and putting it up somewhere else. The information listed on the project site is indeed correct. For many years, it was thought that the children of James and Tamar were the parents of the group that moved to GA, but after many hours of pouring over records, Julia and I tracked their children moving west, not south. We studies all available deeds and wills in NC and have followed their children moving into central NC, then on to the west. We studies alot of GA records, and found that the Hancocks there were there much earlier than originally thought, and could not have came from James and Tamar. I am hoping Julia is able to reply to this as well, as she is very well versed in these records. I will dig out my notes and provide the actual pieces of the puzzle putting this all together. As a matter of fact, this is likely the beginning of being able to straighten out where some of these unknown Hancocks came from. We had alot of them that we are now putting together. I am still searching for records on many of them, but between Julia and all she is going through, and a few curves I've been dealing with, we have not had the time we need to finish following up on this.
