Thanks for responding. Before I say anything else I want to apologize to everyone out there. I gave the county in Indiana that Robert lived in as Boone Co. I just dug out some old papers including a copy of the 1860 Every Name Census Index for Indiana and found that the county was actually Johnson County, I'm very sorry for my mistake, I had put all my research away because of illness, I'm a little better now and am anxious to find all the "roots" I can.. To all of you that have responded to my inquiry I sincerely thank you. Below Is what I have on Robert.: Robert Hancock Age 45 ( b. abt. 1815) birthplace NC Head of House Nancy 27 ( b. abt. 1833 ) Ky Spouse Elizabeth 3 ( b. abt. 1857) In Daughter John 17 ( b. abt. 1843) Ky Living in household, helps on farm. They are all white,. living in county #41 ( Johnson County) Township # 194 (???) and can be found on page 613 of the 1860 census for Johnson Co., Indiana. You can see by their age differences why I believe Nancy was probably Robert's second wife. You can also see that since John was born in Ky, and his surname is Hancock that Robert no doubt moved from NC to Ky before moving to Indiana. Since the census was taken in June, Elizabeth would have to have been born in either 1856 or 1857 and she was born in Indiana so Robert and Nancy most likely married in Ky and moved to Indiana sometime between 1851 and 1856. That's just my summation of the facts given on the census and we all know how often there are mistakes on that, unfortunately we have little else to go on. I know nothing for sure about Robert and his family. I do have three other Robert Hancock's in Indiana listed on that census. One was born in Boone County Indiana abt. 1847 and can be found on page 1042 of the 1860 Census. The second Robert was also born in Boone Co. abt. 1852 and can be found on the 1860 census on page 1080. The third one's name is spelled with two b's in it (Robbert) and was born in Floyd Co. Indiana abt. 1853 and can be found on page 246 of the 1860 census. I hope that this will help you find your Robert. Again, I really do appreciate all the help all of you have given me.
