    2. Good work, Lisa. That is a lot of untangling. I don't understand what you mean about the DNA results, but the William that we have married to Elizabeth Spencer (and didn't move to Craven) is the son of William of Lower Norfolk, VA and grandson of Simon, not Augustine. If you look at the Hancock Project, we have a son, William, for Augustine, but no wife for him and he had children George, Jubal, Sarah and Ruth. This George had a son, Robert, who had a Robert, Edward, Joshua, William (of Bedford Co., Va) and he had a George who had a George who is the one who is buried standing up so he can watch his plantation. His daughter was Judith who married Lewis or Clark. Oh, goodness, so many Hancocks. We have the children of Augustine in Lower Norfolk, VA but I don't remember ever seeing them there. I have done limited research there. If we test a descendant of this John who married Susannah Bridges, he should match Chart #1. 3. Julia, Arvil and I had several discussions over the parents of this William who married Elizabeth Spencer. I'm not sure how those discussions ever really turned out. He had long thought this William to be the son of William Hancock and Elizabeth Cockroft and went to Craven Co., NC. That turned out to be wrong, as William who married Elizabeth Spencer did not go to Craven Co. Elizabeth was the daughter of Nicholas Spencer of VA. I will have to dig back through my notes, but there was some reason this William was believed to be descended from Augustine instead of Simon. I'll work on that one tomorrow!
