AR.  I first searched there when chasing my grgrandpa,  William Pitchford Stone, b 1844, Forsyth Co, GA. He and wife Sarah  Elizabeth Christopher Stone, moved there from Blount Co, AL after 1866  when his side lost in the Civil War.  Brothers Francis Asbury Stone and James Stone moved to Boone Co, adjacent to Searcy Co. Their father, Wiley Stone, b 1806, SC and wife Candace Buckner Stone, moved with  them. The Stone neighbors were the James Clayton Hancock family and farmed alongside the Stone place. So James Hancock m Mary Etta Stone and James picked Martha. There is a PBS video tape of the Buffalo these days called "The Buffalo Flows". It is a fine introduction to this scenic river. I have never seen it but would like to very much. Audrey, you  may remember that years ago we met when I was explaining how I was trying  to offer a prize to the student in the high school in Dufur, OR who found  the gravesite for William Pitchford Stone and wrote a short essay of what  could be discovered locally about this veteran of the 28th AL Inf.  I  lamented that the high school history teacher didn't see my effort in the  spirit intended. As I recall you were sympathetic. I will pass along all  the comments here to my Hancock - Creel cousins up there in OR. Yes we  did find Wm P's unmarked grave through the efforts in Dufur of the  "Daughters" , an organization honoring the history of the south. They  assisted in getting an appropriately marked grave marker and we put on a  dedication that was very jolly for descendants numbering up to a hundred  in the Odd Fellows Cemetery on a hillside in that rolling farm country  about 15 miles south of The Dalles along a "cut off" trail originated by  those who wanted to quit the Columbia  and head overland to the lush  valleys to the south. ron in CA On 3/15/2014 10:56 AM, Audrey Shields  Hancock wrote: > Ron, > For those who tested and are in Chart 3  Group, you may wish to visit > this website and the links thus included  on the site. > > http://tinyurl.com/9kn89gw > >  Audrey > > > -----Original Message----- > From:  hancock-bounces@rootsweb.com > [mailto:hancock-bounces@rootsweb.com]On  Behalf Of JULIAFWOOD@aol.com > Sent: Saturday, March 15, 2014 10:49  AM > To: hancock@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [HANCOCK] Hancock  DNA-Attn: Ron...James Clayton Hancock >& >  AmyReynolds > > > Thanks, Audrey, I knew I had heard those  names before:  I checked my  > old files from our original DNA  Website and here is what I have from > the 3 persons who tested from  that line: > >  Note: I would be interested in  what  County of Arkansas, is the town >of  St. Joe.  Julia >      *  Test # H08899 & # H08902  -- >      *  William Hancock born in SC and  married in Hamilton County, TN >to  Rebecca VanderGriff who was born in  TN, is believed to be the >father of the > below, James Clayton  Hancock. >      *  James Clayton Hancock was  born 9 Jan 1829 in Hamilton County, >TN  and died in 1904 in Okatha, OK  at the home of his son, James >Monroe Hancock. > James C. was married on  13 Nov 1851 to Amy Reynolds who was born 24 > May > 1826  in Hamilton  County, TN.
