    1. Re: [HANCOCK] Hancocks of Yazoo County, Mississippi
    2. Sorry, I am just getting my emails. I have been sick with Pneumonia and just got out of the hospital today. I am Mary Elia and I Iive in Sarasota, Floida. Pat is my husbands name therefore the _Pat91869@aol.com_ (mailto:Pat91869@aol.com) . My mother is Doris Hancock, her father was Willie Scott Hancock, and his father is Robert Scott Hancock son of T H Hancock son of John L & Tabitha Ballew. We believe that T H is Thomas because he had a son Thomas but this is not proven. We also think that he did not come to Mississippi until later. He may have stayed in Tennessee and married there. This is also unproven. If you would like to you can contact me at my email or at the list. Mary In a message dated 2/5/2013 12:22:22 A.M. During that time I was in touch with someone on our list named Pat from Putnam Co., FL. Her mother was Mary Elia (don't know if Elia is a middle or last name). They are descendants of John L. At that time Pat told me that her mother had George M. Hancock's will from Yazoo County and they were trying to determine if he was kin to John L. Pat said George M. was born in 1805 in VA and had a brother named John H. and a sister named Nancy who was married to a Berkley. That's all I know. In 2003, Pat's email address was Pat91869@aol.com. If she were still getting Hancock emails, she probably would have responded when she saw Yazoo County in the subject line. S. Federal Census: George M. Hancock, 45, male, Raftsman, b VA John H. Hancock, 55, male, gin wright, b VA Their gravestones appear on Find a Grave: http://www.findagrave.com Find A Grave Memorial# 32331384 George M. Hancock Find A Grave Memorial# 32331372 John H. Hancock John H. Hancock's gravestone has this inscription: "Here lie two Grandsons of John Hancock, the first signer of the Constitution." We know that neither can be grandsons of John Hancock, Signer of the Declaration of Independence and Governor of Massachusetts. He had a son and a daughter who did not survive to reach their teens. John Hancock did not sign the Constitution, he signed the Declaration of Independence. Evidently they were born in Virginia, but to which HANCOCK Virginia DNA family do they belong?
