    1. Re: [HANCOCK] Hancock DNA
    2. Hi Becky, If you looked recently or long ago, you should have seen that the Craven County, NC line is Group 4 and doesn't match the one Hector test. Dearham is proven to have been the father to James Hancock of Georgia and matches Group 4 as well. If others of Hector's line had been tested, they would be showing in the Project. You are welcome to test another male of his line at anytime. The person who ordered Hector's test must have been the person who posted Austria as his origins as that is not done automatically. It is not unusual for males of the same surname to not be related, so the fact that Hector doesn't match the others doesn't mean that there was an adoption in his line. Others of his line would have to be tested before one could draw any conclusion. Julia French Wood Hancock DNA Project Adm. In a message dated 3/14/2014 12:32:11 P.M. Have any others of his "family" been DNA tested and added to the project? In talking to a DNA expert recently, she suggested because his results are so different from other Hancock's, that we try to find another descendant of his to test, and maybe also from a brother's descendants and compare them. Maybe we could get DNA samples from Nathanial, Henry, Joseph, William or John's lines, and maybe also from a what is thought to be a brother of Hector's-Dearham's, Captain William Hancock's or James' lines. Any thoughts on this? If he doesn't match up to any others, it could be that he was adopted. I would be interested to see what other researchers think about this.
