    1. Re: [HANCOCK] Hancock DNA
    2. Hi Becky, I have never heard that Dearham/Durham and Hector were brothers. Durham was from Craven County and Hector was from Carteret and I have never seen them listed in any records in the opposite County or on any records together. I have seen records of Hector in South Carolina, though. All Craven County Hancock deeds name Col. William or Capt. William as owning the land as the later generations sold it, i.e., Durham, William III (called William, Jr. after Col Wm. died), James, James, Jr. Roger, William IV, John (who moved to Carteret) and all their children. Good luck in finding a male Hector descendant. Julia In a message dated 3/14/2014 1:25:59 P.M. Central Daylight Time, volleymom5@cableone.net writes: Thanks Julia for your quick reply. You are exactly right. I am just exploring all of the possibilities. It is hard to find any documentation from that time period, to find where he came from.I have always wondered if he and Dearham really were brothers. Our line comes from Hector's granddaughter, so we would have to search for a male descendant from one of his sons. His haplogroup is different from all the other ones, and when I looked it up, it said it was from the region of Austria. I didn't put it there, but it seems it is related to the haplogroup. Some of them did end up in Scotland and Ireland. How reliable this information is, though, is a mystery to me. 3. Thanks Julia. One of the family genealogical files had his brothers as Dearham, capt. William, and James, I believe. I just need to pull out my files and see what I have on him. Thanks for responding.
