Hi Paula, That is great news that you have the correct data posted. Have you considered DNA testing for one of the Hancock males? Julia In a message dated 1/4/2013 5:34:16 P.M. Central Standard Time, proberts121@tampabay.rr.com writes: Julia, I am so sorry to hear of Dales' passing. I hope he did not suffer. As to my Hancock family, they came from the Springfield, Mass area. I searched for many years for my grandfather's brother's sons but had no luck. My grandfather had 2 sons but both sons had 2 daughters. My grandfather had 2 brothers. The oldest had a son and dtr that died in childhood. The other brother had 3 sons. Out of the blue, one of these cousins connected with a Hancock that knew I was researching that line. She gave him my e-mail address and the rest is history. He has entered everything on Ancestry.com. He has done a great job - everything he has entered he has verified via paperwork from that area. Makes me happy that he will only enter info that is verified. So much is just guesswork that people take for gospel. Hopefully, 2013 will be a good year for you. Thank you so much for all your hard work. It is go good to hear from so many of our Hancock (researcher) friends on this list. I think that Dale would be very proud that he started this conversation. Who knows, just posting your queries again might lead to new discoveries in your Hancock lines. I often think about the "good ole days" when we researched together and on slow days and nights would converse on everything and anything. I suppose all that is, still, in the Archives of this list. Remember when we talked about mosquitoes and gnats? And when I explained all about our Mardi Gras celebration here in New Orleans? I hope your New Year is very special and I hope we do, all, keep in touch. I haven't found my William Hancock of Craven Co., NC's origins, but have some clues which I will send to the list later. Julia, I suggested DNA testing to my "connection", Andrew Hancock. I also told him I would be willing to help with the cost. I did not have a figure to give him, but he could be interested. Could you provide me with the actual costs and the procedure, please.
