    2. Sue-``` Thanks for the reply. I don't do much research anymore. I hit stone walls on all my lines and old age is catching up. I keep telling myself to use the web and go to Germany where my wife has many cousins from her immigrant grandparents.. But I don't listen to myself anymore either. Good luck. BobHop

    3. I might mention Lewis T was s/o William Lewis, not John W as you have in the last message. Bob, I knew that, just left him out. If you haven't viewed the 1860 Webster County, Ky. Census, it's well worth a look. Carole Palmer does great work. She helped me on my Brooks family and when I started on them, I didn't know my grandfather's full name. 2. Hi Friends & Cousins'" My Hancock ancestry goes like this-------Grandfather, Joel, b. 1792 in Georgia; G-Grandfather John Wilson Hancock, B. Wilkinson Co. Georgia 1821, d. Cullman Co. Alabama 1899. Grandfather, J.D. Hancock , b. 1874 , Pike Co. Georgia, d. 1944 ; Cullman Co. Alabama. Father, H.A. Hancock, b. 1906 , Cullman Co. Al, d. 1961, Cullman Co. Alabama. The Shadrack Alvis--Judith Hancock, marriage is very interesting---As my Mother's maiden name was Alvis----hence; my given name. And----Shadrack Alvis is a ancestor of mine on my mother's side. Just goes to show ya-----genealogy is a endless chain.!!! Alvis

    2. The 1850 census states that Henry was born in GA. This really does not mean it is correct as i have yet to find any RE/probate, etc....records have been discovered. I know it sounds odd but there seems to be no REAL documented proof in GA that I have been able to find. 3. Bob, Got a lot of my information from The Hancock Project, Tony Wooden and Webster Co. Census on their Ky GenCom Page. I think I copied Joel's name by mistake. Looking back over my notes, can't find that information again. Must have been a baaaad day. My line is Benjamin, Major, John W., Lewis T., Josie. Josie or Josephine Bell is my great-grandmother. She married George Virgin. Their daughter, Lucy Parolee married John Brooks and their son, William is my father. 1. [HANCOCK-L] Henry Hancock
    2. Still trying to run something up the flag pole in hopes someone can salute!!!!!!!! I have tracked my ancestor back to Henry Hancock who was born about 1798 (not sure which state possibly VA, NC, SC or GA). He married and had several children. Problem lies in that the 1850 census for Baldwin County, GA The wife listed in the census was married to him in 1843. All 8 of the children (Charlotte, George, Augustus, Sarah, Amanda, Marcus, Elizabeth & Henry were born between 1824 and 1841. I have thus found several marriage licenses that I am hoping is my connection and someone can provide the missing link. Below are all the Henry HANCOCK marriages that I have found in the needed timeframe and in the same general geographical area.: 1. Henry married Sarah Watson 5/28/1822 in Butler County, Ohio 2. Henry married Lotty Asher 4/10/1817 in Jefferson County, Kentucky 3. Henry married Priscilla Hancock 8/25/1823 in Wilson County, Tennessee 4. Henry married Tabitha Chapman 10/15/1822 in Halifax, Virginia I also found a marriage betewwen Henry HANCOCK and Dolley Rawlings dated 12/15/1791 in Brunswick, VA. Was hoping someone might know information on these 2 as it is possible they are the parents of my Henry born 1798. Thanks for any help, Gary A. Gavegan San Antonio, Texas

    2. Sue- I am having a problem with your linage as expressed in your message? First I have no Joel as a s/o Judith, no "early" marriage for Judith and John W of course is a s/o Major 1742- 1839 and a brother to Judith. Would you mind listing your names and dates in order for me- including marriage dates for Judith and Shadrach Alvis?? (Judith was age 16 when she married.) Thank you. 2. Donna, Have a Charles Gee, b. 1757, Prince George Co., VA; d. ?; (s/o Charles Gee and Mary Chappell); m. Susannah Peebles, 06 Dec 1787, Albemarle Parish, Sussex Co., VA. Possibably the parents or Charles Gee, b. 1791; d. 1810; m. ? Hancock (f). Do not recognize the other two Hancocks you mentioned. Still looking for proof/documentation of my g-g-g GM, Unity Hancock's parents/siblings. She was born 28 Aug 1781, Sussex Co., VA or Hancock (orig. Greene) Co., GA; d. 11 Feb 1850, Fayette Co., GA; m. Judkins Hunt, Jr., abt. 1798/99, prob. Hancock Co., GA. Judkins Hunt, Jr. and Unity Hancock resided in Jasper and Pike Cos., GA. At the time of Unity's death, she was residing at the home of her eldest son, Appleton Hunt in Fayette Co., GA. He was the b/o my g-g GF, Thomas Goodwin Hunt (m. 1st., Mary Elizabeth Simmons - my line and 2nd., Mary Jane Starr). It is my believe she could be a sister of Joel Hancock, b. 09 Jan 1792, Warren (orig. Wilkes) or Hancock (orig. Greene) Co., GA; d. 16 Sept 1869, Pike Co., GA. For some reason I have his 1st., wife as being Elizabeth? (Chapman?or Brady?) and 2nd., Martha Reeves. Carol ckgleo@aol.com

    3. In reverse order (starting with grandfather) Onie Calvin, William E, William Henry, Benjamin N, Amos, Benjamin Jr, Benjamin, Jeremiah, Jean, and Jeremie Dumas. Amos' wife moved with her children to south Arkansas, and I am so glad since I married Onie's grandson and my step-dad was the 2nd ggrandson of Benjamin N Dumas. 2 great men came from this family into mine. I'm glad you wrote in because I have some confusion about the early generations. Who married Unity Lacy and who married Unity Smith and who were the children of which?? I also seem to have crossed children on the 2nd generation. When you have time, could you contact me off line and help me straighten out my mess. My e-mail is hawgwild@northstate.net Thanks. 3. Hi -- I am still searching for information about James W. HANCOCK who married Emma TATE March 29, 1886. He was my gg grandfather and the ONLY information I have been able to find is a record of his marriage in Garnet, Anderson County, Kansas. It is my belief that he died in Joplin, MO before 1900 (but that date is based on a shaky theory). I believe that my great grandmother was born in Joplin and that Emma TATE also died in Joplin. Our estimate (based on the marriage record) is that he was born about 1864. ANY information about him is GREATLY appreciated! Thanks, Dawn Zimmerer-Langer

    3. My Joel was born January 09, 1792 in GA and died September 16, 1869 in Pike Co., GA. He was married to Elizabeth ? (Chapman?). So far I haven't even been able to connect any of his line to any of the other Hancock lines. But I'm not the only one looking and ONE DAY someone will find some piece of evidence to connect him to his family. But thanks for inquiry.
