    1. [HANCOCK-L] Joseph Hancock
    2. Lynn & Grant Davis
    3. Has anyone come across a Joseph Hancock born in England on November 1, 1833? I don't know where in England he was born. He came to the US (Illinois) sometime before 1856 when he was married the first time in McHenry Co., IL. His first son was named Charles E. Hancock and a 2nd son named George who died young was by his first wife. The second wife produced a son, William Frances Hancock, my grandfather, before dying in childbirth. The third wife produced another George A. Hancock who lived. I would like to find who Joseph's parents and siblings were. Hope I hear some good news. Marilyn

    3. Here goes again. From info I recieved from Baltimore Md. Samuel Hancock age 25 and Elizabeth Hancock age 27 with child[Samuel]age 4 months landed in Baltimore in June of 1823.On record says they came from some other port in United States and another says they came from Derbyshire,England. This would put Samuels birth around 1798 and Elizabeth's birth around 1796.Anyone knowing of this line in United States or England that can share info with me would be greatly appreciated.Thank you Tamara

    3. Hi Butterfly ;) Thanks for looking....there is another line of Hancocks in AR....can't recall off hand his name that was doing research. Maybe Jeff? I don't know if he is on this list or not.... If you could send any of my husband's line of grave stones that would be very interesting. I have slacked off looking for his line as I have been on mine for so long and get one thing figured out and two pops up. If anyone would like to have pictures of the grave stones at the cemetaries mentioned, I would be glad to search them out and get pictures to email. There was also another lady of the Hancock line in Stone County but you do not have her listed. She was Molly Hancock Phillips. 3. I was thinking the same that PO was Post Office & wasn't sure PB as Postal Box so I called our little town Post Office and they said years back that was what it meant and still today it means the same in some towns that still have drawers. So shadow, you were right. Cathie

    3. Every time I find a place, such as the town where my grandmother was born. I get any books I can find, with information on that place, and read up on that town, and then I get a copy of an old map that I find at the Library and at times, on the web . I then keep zooming in on the map untill I can get a clear picture of all the surounding towns. All this helps me to do a better search on my grandmother's backround . It kind of gives me a feeling of being there . Knowing the history helps me to see the town as it must have been when she lived there. If I'm lucky and can find a lot of photo's of the place, I then can make a little book of photo's and information. I have allways been crazy about history. Another nice thing is the index page. One might find a family name there. Wishing you good health and a rainbow day, Minnie Ann Jesus , A Never Ending Friend !
