    2. "GENEALOGIST'S POX " WARNING:   Very contagious to adults.    SYMPTOMS: Continual complaint as to need for names, dates, and places. Patient has a blank expression, sometimes deaf to spouse and children. Has no taste for work of any kind, except feverishly looking through records at libraries and courthouses. Has compulsion to write letters. Swears at mailman when he doesn't leave mail. Frequents places such as   cemeteries; ruins; and remote, desolate country areas. Makes secret night calls, hides phone bills from spouse, and mumbles to self. Has a strange, faraway look in eyes. NO KNOWN CURE. TREATMENT: Medication is useless. Disease is not fatal, but gets progressively worse. Patient should attend genealogy workshops, subscribe to genealogical magazines, and be given a quiet corner in the house where he or she can be alone. Veteran of the War of 1812. Served as an Ensign. File WC 11580. ! Marriage mentioned in Wilson Co TN marriages. Bondsman was Major Hancock ! Went MO 1820, returned to VA and then moved to NC (most likely he actuall lived in TN near the NC border.) ! The Pension file does not mention living in NC or an earlier wife. The book "Wilson Co Marriages" by E.R. Whitley page 15 mentions "Nellie" West and bondsman Major Hancock. ! Abstract of William W. She was living with Mary Ann and W A J in Langdale until her death in 1926. I was 10 years old when she died.I would like to get in touch with the one who wrote to you.I think that probably we have about the same info about them, but we might have some info to exchange.     2. The W.W. Hancock sounds like William Wilson Hancock who had wife Sarah Harbison, son Major Harrison. WW was a Vet of the War of 1812. However he died in 1863 in Clay Co TN. Several of his family lived in Polk Co.
