    2. Good day all, I'm seeking family and ancestry info on Joseph HANCOCK and Mary BUSH, who were reportedly married about 1753 in Bedford County, PA. Their only child I can identify is Joesph (Jr.) born July 21, 1758. Hoping to hear from some of you. Thanks to all for reading this, Alan

    3. I have already been to your site. In fact i would say that i have seen just about every internet document on this family line. I am familiar with Richard Wade. I know that he was captured at the Salt Lick with William, and that he was marched to Detroit with around eight other men not including William, who escaped. Stephen went on the salt making trip with the 26 other men, but was not captured because he had returned earlier with two other men to deliver the first pack horse salt load to Boonesborough. (Lucky fellow!) Are you related to Walter O Hopkins who wrote the book called "Hopkins of Virginia" This book details this Hancock families vital statistics. When you say 'application' do you mean a rev. war pension application, or do you mean SAR/DAR application? If it is the later I would like to know if you were the one who filed it and what is involved. Thanks Bob! 2. I just thought you might be interested in my story, given the recent topic. Due to computer problems I had to wipe my harddrive. I made a copy of my Family Tree Maker files so I wouldn't lose all of that work. I did not think to make a copy of the program itself off the hard drive. After all was done, I reloaded my FTM disks; starting with the first version I bought & went thru all the updates. Then recovered my files from the backup disk. Imagine my surprise when I could not open them. According to the message I get the files are from a "newer" program than I am using. After giving it some thought, I vaguely remember purchasing & downloading from online an update. I emailed the company about it; telling them I don't want to pay for something I have already purchased. GUESS WHAT! They took 5 days to reply and then say I can either purchase an update or send them my files which they will fix so my program will open them. AS IF I WOULD.......of course I now have to purchase something I have already bought once. I learned 2 lessons. The first being never pay for a download without having a disk for backup and second The owners of this company (which has changed names several times) care only about the money. I am not sure, but I think they bought Ancestry recently. If so, look for things to change at Ancestry. Wandra
