    1. [HANCOCK-L] Major Hancock line
    2. Ardath Buckaway
    3. Hi Sue, I'm from that line also, ( Benjamin, Major, John William) but I am through Stephen Farrar, a brother to William Lewis. I would like to know that birthdate of John Brooks, as well as their marriage date. I had Parolee, but didn't know her name was Lucy Parolee. Were there other children - brothers and sisters of Lucy? 1. [HANCOCK-L] Major Hancock
    2. Ardath Buckaway
    3. Sue - Major Hancock married Ann Thomas, daughter of James Thomas. This Major Hancock was born in 1735. His 2nd wife was Mary Moreland. He died in Clay Co. MO. in 1839. Major Hancock born 1772 was a son of the above Major Hancock. This Major married Mary Page. He died in Hall GA. He is the one that seems to be very mixed up, as far as researchers go. He was born in VA, and married there but moved to Spartanburgh SC, and then to Hall County, GA. where he died and left a will. Many people have him mixed up with another Major Hancock who was the son of John D. Hancock. The son of John D. was born in 1770 and died 1840 in Wayne Co. KY. I believe he married Jane Parry Morrow. Major Hancock born in 1792 was the son of Benjamin Hancock and Nancy Corn. He married Elizabeth Fuson, and a month and half later left for Champaigne Co. OH. He was a well respected minister until his death. He also farmed to support his family. They were married in April and by the end of May, they started out for OH. He died there in 1879. I have had all of these Majors mixed up, so I can understand your confusion. If anyone on this list thinks I am still wrong, Please, write to me, and straighten me out! Ardath

    1. [HANCOCK-L] Richard Ramsey Hancock
    2. Ardath Buckaway
    3. Was Richard Hancock's middle name Ramsey? He was born 16 Apr. 1783 in either Fluvanna or Patrick Co. Can anyone tell me which it was? He died in Wilson Co. in either KY. or TN. which? He married Mary (Polly) Adams. She was the daughter of Jacob Adams and Mary Cooper born in MD, on 12 May 1773. Mary & Richard were supposed to have had 2 sons and 1 daughter, does anyone know their names or dates of birth etc. Polly Adams & Richard Hancock were married 10 Nov. 1806 in Wilson Co. TN. Mary (Polly) Adams according to info that I have, was married before to Christoper Cooper. This could have been a cousin - no proof. A brother of Richard's, Lewis Hancock also came to TN. possibly with his brother Richard, and married Frances Adams in 1812, also in Wilson Co. TN. Was Frances a sister to Polly? These 2 Hancocks were sons of Benjamin Hancock and Nancy Corn. She died in IN.(1816) while visiting a son and Benjamin died on his way to visit his son's in TN. He left 6 children as orphans. They were wards of an older brother Lewis Hancock, and his wife Frances. Is there anyone who can correct, answer the questions or shed more light on this family? Ardath

    3. Hello to all of the Hancock Researchers; I am going through all of my Hancock files, checking for errors, and to see if anyone has any more information that I don't have. John D. Hancock, and his wife Nancy: Their son Benjamin born 1756 in Albemarle Co. VA. 1. Was her name Nancy Anna, Anna Nancy, or Nancy Malinda Corn? They married about 1780-1781. 2. Was she Benjamin's second wife? I have a Nancy Ramsey married to Benjamin in 1777, and died in 1780. She had 2 children, Martha in 1778, and Nancy in 1780. Could she have died in child birth? I have this Martha marrying Peter Smith in Patrick Co. VA. Please send corrections or whatever you have to the list. That way everyone can benefit. Ardath

    3. Hi Ardeth, John Thomas Brooks b.1877 d.July 1962, bur. at Hazel Creek Cemetery, Belton, Ky. Don't know when or where they were married. Parolee married Joseph Mackey in Evansville, Ind. (?) He was born 1897, d.1983. Parolee's brother, George S. Virgin, b. 1895. The 1910 census has George Virgin age 15, as step-son of W. H. Williams, Webster Co, Ky. Father George is a mystery. Can't find out where he was born, or when; and what in the world happen to him is anyone's guess. Can't find his grave and haven't found a divorce anywhere either. He must have been an alien. Or maybe buried out behind the barn. Sure thank you for your information. 3. The more I read of this line, the more I wonder if mine might connect, as the given names in my line keep showing up in this one. Is there a Jonathan Hancock in this line born June 23, 1765-1769? This one was supposedly born in Maryland, but no researcher has ever been able to find a trace of him there. It would appear that there was some sort of rift in the family, and this Jonathan did not want to associate with the rest of the family. I am beginning to wonder if he just picked Maryland out of the air as his birthplace, and was really born somewhere else, so no one would ever know who his parents and siblings were. 3. Hi all, I've been trying for some time now to determine what happened to my g-grandfather James Rodwell Hancock. He was born May 16, 1876 in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, England and immigrated to Chicago area in 1906. He vanished in late 1909 or early 1910 (there was some dark family secret about what happened to him, but everyone that knew it is now gone). His wife was Louisa Jane Wilford and his kids were Theodore and Irene. His father was Henry Hancock (b. May 16, 1839 in West Haddon, Northamptonshire, England). His mother was Sarah Martha Fox (b. abt 1843 in Market Harborough, England). I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or info that anyone may have on this line. I've already searched all relevant criminal and INS records and came up empty. Ted Hancock Bridgeview, Illinois
