I sent away for copies of my grandparents application for Social Security cards. How long does it take them to be processed and sent back to us? Denisa
Diane, Where in Georgia? I have HANCOCK lines in Greene County, Taliferro County, Wilkes County and a possible Baldwin County. I need to find proof of Baldwin County but my information seems to fit so far. I am trying to find parents of George HANCOCK b. 1827 or 1829. I have unconfirmed information that his father was Henry Hancock of Baldwin County. George Hancock's sons were James A. Hancock 1850 and Henry Hancock 1852. E.L. Hancock 1874 was son of James Hancock. Sons of E.L. Hancock were James M. Hancock, W.C. Hancock Sr., and Robert L. Hancock. Hope there is a connection. I have been trying to connect George Hancock to one of the many Georgia HANCOCK lines forever. Have you looked at all the documents available? My favorites are Deed records. I have had good luck with father's giving land to children. Also, Wills and probate records. Have you looked at all the ones for the period in Burlington, NJ? The LDS has all these on microfilm. I always, order the indexes first, find my family, then order the Deed books by the book and page numbers listed in the indexes. Perhaps, someone on this list has more help for you than I can give. Thanks for responding. Orrell I. Hancock Sr b 1867 d 1915 m 1905 Anna Lyle b 1887 d 1962 Albert G. Hancock Est b 1820-1840 (I found him listed in 1860 Burlington, NJ census but found no age). He was no longer alive at the turn of the century (found info that Orrell built a house for his mother betw. 1898-1901). Albert's wife Emma H. Inslee was born 1844 d unknown. I've gone back and estimated everyone else - giving the men a greater range since often they were as old as 40 marrying much younger women. George Hancock est. b. 1780-1820, Sarah W. Greely Est. b. 1800-1820 Samuel Hancock est. b. 1760-1787 married Lydia Gilbert in 1807. This leaves Thomas Hancock est. b. 1740-1767. Timothy Hancock line (England to Burlington NJ) He married Susannah Ives May 01, 1690. Susannah Ives, born 1669 in NJ; died in NJ. Children of Timothy Hancock and Susannah Ives are: Hannah Hancock, Ann Hancock and John Hancock, born June 11, 1693; died March 03, 1727/28 in Burlington Co., NJ; married Mary Gurnell 1719 in Chester Twp. Burlington County, New Jersey; born WFT Est. 1681-1703; died WFT Est. 1724-1792. Any ideas, directions etc. are appreciated. Sherill

Do these scribbled notes have sources? Do you know this data to be correct? I have an Albert G. HANCOCK, but not this one. Julia
I'm new to the listserve and have a lot of questions but will try and keep it brief. My research starts with my great grandfather - Orrell I. Hancock. He married beneath him (supposedly) and the story goes became the black sheep of the family. I have the scribbled names of his parents as well as a couple of generations back from his brother but am having problems confirming. I also seem to trace them into Burlington NJ. My info (from scribbled notes): Orrell I. HANCOCK m. Anna LYLE his father was Albert G. HANCOCK m. Emma Harrington INSLEE and his father was George HANCOCK m. Sarah Wilan GREELY and his father was Samuel HANCOCK m. Lydia GILBERT the notes continue to scribble Samuel's father as Thomas and Samuel's father as John (I think they were hoping for a connection to THE John Hancock but quickly disproved this). I found Samuel and Lydia's marriage on the net as being in Burlington, NJ. My question: Do I come from the Timothy/Burlington line? The Hancock page doesn't have this info yet. I've read that Timothy's first wife was Rachel and they bore only girls. That would leave me to link with the second wife which I've found to be Susannah IVES. I've found info that says they have had three children Hannah, Ann and John. This would leave me with John and his wife Mary GURNELL. Anyone have info on their children? Did Timothy and Susannah have any other children/boys? I think I'm only a generation or two away from linking my line with this one. Any info is appreciated. I apologize if I've given too much info. Thank you, Sherill Baldwin

Yup...I knew you would never try to start a war...<grin> ...or hurt anyone in any way. We all know that. There's been a lot of knee jerk reaction going on.
