    1. Re: [HANCOCK-L] Hancock's of Georgia Revolutionary soldiers
    2. Hi, This is some information that I got at my local library. It may help someone. The following Hancocks got bounty land in Georgia because they were either soldiers or patriot citizens during the Revolutionary War. This is the book where I found this infomation. "Index to The Headrights and Bounty Grants of Georgia 1756-1909", by Rev. Silas Emmett Lucas Jr. Duglass Hancock got 112 acres in Jefferson , County GA in 1798. Durham Hancock got 700 acres in Tattnall County, GA between 1820-1821. Isham Hancock got 308 acres in Franklin County, Ga between 1803-1814. James Hancock got 4, 654 acres in the following GA counties: Ema nuel, Montgomery, and Tattnall between 1801-1851. Jeremiah Hancock got 496 acres in Bulloch County, GA in 1832. Joseph Hancock got 343 acres in Richmond and Warren Counties in GA. between 1798-1811. Joston Hancock got 100 acres in Tattnall County, Ga in 1825. May Hancock (widow?) got 400 acres in Habersham County, Ga in 1835. Shadrack Hancock got 2,075 acres intattnall Count, Ga between 1835-1838. William Hancock got 1,360 acres (probably more because one amount was not listed.) in Tattmnall and Jackson Counties, GA between 1819-1854. Also, I found this in the abstract of the will of John Tarrance of Edgefield S.C. 1825. Here is the book it came from: "Edgefield County , South Carolina Wills 1787-1836 " by James E. and Vivian Wooley "I give my sister Martha Hancock the wife of George Hancock & her children 100 acres to be laid out aroud the house where said Hancock now lives, to be taken from a tract of 640 acres granted to myself." 3. That will help some.....but Dubya is going around collecting obscene amounts of money $20 M in one night at a recent $20,000+ PER PLATE dinner where he and Cheney stayed for all of 30 minutes. It costs a lot of money to rig an election and they're getting their war chest together. Since they're not asking for matching funds, they don't have to disclose their sources or even make a pretense of complying with campaign laws. I don't think any elected official is running "the show"...I think the political machine is being run by people we don't even know the names of who think of us as sheep to be shorn...used, abused and brain-washed . They have a "take the money and run" agenda/ mind-set. I would remind you that the Florida state legislature did not support the election results or aftermath...nor were the Florida courts falling in line, hence the end run to the Supreme Court, which had enough people willing to be corrupt to throw the election. Meanwhile, back in Florida (and who knows how many states who received less media visibility)...there were the police road blocks at atrategic places and over-night construction that tore up sidewalks leading to polling places (ooops, the makeshift handwritten signs must have blown away that told folks to go around the block..uh huh). I'm still too flabbergasted that Cruella Deville masquerading as Dubya's campaign manager was also the Secretary of State and wasn't compelled to recuse herself...how blatant does corruption have to get ??? Dubya's handlers feel they've gotten away with it and that they'll be able to do it again. If they need any diversions, they've got all sorts of little wars planned for our entertainment pleasure to give any needed boosts at the polls. It won't matter anyway, because the next ones going to be riged too. As Bob Novak said...they've got Jeb lined up to put in as Bush 3. If so...we might as well get ready to be serfs ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tamara Powell" <homelite@theremc.com> To: <HANCOCK-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, July 07, 2001 12:49 PM Subject: [HANCOCK-L] Don't Let us Foget! > yes the last election was a mess. don't forget to let your congressmen and ladies know how you feel and ask for a national election form that is the same in every election. If you think writing your senators and representatives don't work well I'm here to tell you it does if you keep on your toes and keep your pen in your hand.I don't think that the person in charge right now will take the next election. He's just a pawn for Cheney who really runs the office. > Remember to write. You elected your officials now make them do your wishes. > Tamara > > > ==== HANCOCK Mailing List ==== > Feel free to post the data you find on HANCOCK > in your research. 3. Well, you see Bob...that's the problem. Lots of those people were denied the right to vote while the media pundits put an entirely different spin on the situation. Lots of folks were tricked by a few little ballot changes that were sprung on them. Then....when they tried to do a re-count to ensure a fair election , they were stopped from doing that too Bottom line is that election was rigged by my evil , not distant enough cousin. ----- Original Message ----- From: <BOBHOP@aol.com> To: <HANCOCK-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, July 07, 2001 9:25 AM Subject: Re: [HANCOCK-L] For our southern researchers-Happy 4th > > In a message dated 7/2/01 7:36:44 AM, mthiesse@swbell.net writes: > > <<And I will remember November 2000 and hope we didn't accidentally > "acquire" a little king. > >> > > Thanks Helene- > > We at least still have the opportunity to vote even if we don't know how. > BobHop > > > ==== HANCOCK Mailing List ==== > Feel free to post the data you find on HANCOCK > in your research.
