Audrey, Union County Kentucky has two distinct lines of Hancocks, and I believe that you're right in the line you describe. My line immigrated to Union County in the family of William Hancock and Ann Hill, from Chesterfield Co,Va. in 1801. If you've been watching the list, Arvil (and I think Jean?) and I share a common ancestor line down to only a few generations back. My line, beginning with Simon in 1609ish, is: Simon,William,Samuel,Simon,William,Hiram,Robert,John Carrol, Robert Irvin, and Ben Hite Hancock, my father. I'm not finding America Hancock in my computer base, but know I've run across it. I'll try to find the notes, and get back to the list. Good luck! Dale A. Hancock (It still amazes me how many Dale Hancocks are on this list!) Audrey Shields Hancock wrote: > Dale and Alan, > > I don't know if we have communicated before or not. Dale and Alan, I don't know if we have communicated before or not. Rena and I have. I believe that many of the Union Co., KY HANCOCK line are related to my (Capt.) John HANCOCK from Louisa Co., VA. I believe that most of those in Union Co., KY were descended from Austin HANCOCK, believed by me to to be brother of (Capt.) John Hancock. Those of us researching this area of Louisa, Hanover, and Orange Cos., VA are having a difficult time due to the burning of records at various times. Based upon much circumstantial evidence it appears that the relationships exist. Thomas Graves Hancock, s/o Capt. John, was in Union Co., KY at a time in his life. I would love to compare notes, if anyone has additional information that might us help solve the questions of relationship. I also moderate the Capt. John Hancock Discussion List that focuses on this family line and other family connections. Rena is a member and I welcome others to add to the family information and knowledge recorded there in the archives. If you would like to join, send e-mail to: HANCOCK_Capt_John-subscribe@yahoogroups.com and join in the family information. If you have not seen this, please visit: http://home.att.net/~davehancock/HANCOCKhis.html If you would like to have your name added to this family's history page, please let me know. Let's break through the "brick wall" which limits many of us from making family connections. Audrey ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dale A. Dale Hancock, my name is Alan Jeffrey, I too have Hancocks from Union Co. If you have any info I'd appreciate some help. My GGGGrandfather was William Lee Jeffreys b. 1822 in NC and died in Union Co. and is buried in Salem Cemetary outside Morganfield. He married Sarah Caroline Hancock in Todd Co. Ky. abt 1845, she too is buried in Salem Cem. I believe her mother was America Hancock. I have seen an America and William Hancock whose daughter Mary married a Pleasant Wheeler abt. 1852. And I also have an America Hancock in the 1860 Union Co. census. She is listed as being (55) born in Va. living with her is James M. (22) b. in Va and Dabney (14) b. in Ky. I am told that this America is my Sarah's mother but can't find proof. Dabney list Todd Co as his birthplace when he files for Civil War pension. If you have any info please contact me at KJEFFREY@peoplepc.com thanks alot ----------Alan D. Jeffrey ----- Original Message ----- From: Dale A. Bob, Thanks for the reply. Of course you are right about giving the locations. I guess it was a combination of being self-conscious about dumping so much into my first list message and the assumption that, since I had found so much discussion of Nathaniel HANCOCK as a progenitor of The John Hancock, that he would be instantly recognized. Generations 1 through 4 are from Derbyshire, Cheshire or Lancashire, England. Nathaniel apparently lived in Cambridge, MA. Thomas (generation 5) led his family to Springfield, Hampshire, MA (though he apparently was born and also died in Farmington, Hartford, CT. Generations 6 through 8 are in the vicinity of Springfield (Longmeadow, Hadley?). The rest of the trajectory of the family takes them along the route of the Mormon emigration, ultimately to Payson, Utah, UT, where my grandmother, Aurura Maria Hancock. People who are familiar with this history might recognize the names Solomon Hancock, Joseph Hancock, and George Washington Hancock. I think there must be a Hancock Family organization for the Payson, UT clan, but I cannot find it. Thanks, Stephen R. Thank you to the cuzzins who responded to my recent qestions re: William and Phebe Hancock. With your help, I have decided that this William is not mine. So, now I am back to square one again looking for parents of William M. HANCOCK 1856-1941, Fountain Co Indiana; married 1880 Mary CLINE 1859-1944. Both buried in Union Cemetery Fountain Co. Thanks to Tamara for coming up with their Carroll Co Indiana birth records. That was a big help. Any other clues on this particular Hancock line would be gratefully received. Sincerely, Linda Hancock

I'm looking for Marcia or Doris Hancock. They would have been born est. 1910-1920. They could possibly still be alive. They are my grandfather's cousins (George Wilson Hancock who died in 1981). If they are married - I don't know their married names. It's possible they were born in the NY area - when they were young they visited my grandfather when he lived on Long Island (I have a number of photos) but not sure where they lived/grew up. I'm assuming they lost contact after George's father died and the family moved to Mass in the late 1920s. Marcia and Doris might have a brother Delos. Their father was Delos Hancock and their mother was Florence Powell Hancock. Any information would be helpful. Thank you. Sherill
Does anybody have any information on Benjamin Hancock that was in the Georgia Militia in 1793 to 1796 he was a trmpeter. Kathy kendrick
