    3. Stephen Kavanaugh Hancock's parents were Robert Hancock and Jaley Kavanaugh respectively. Robert's parents were Stephen Hancock and Catherine Merchant, who migrated from VA to Ft. Boonsborough, KY in 1777. From there they went to Rutherford county KY around 1790, and then on to Missouri in 1820. I have plenty of detail on the aforementioned. However, I have virtually nothing on Ivy Roberts. -----Original Message----- From: Audrey Shields Hancock [mailto:AudreyShieldsHancock@att.net] Sent: Friday, October 19, 2001 8:05 PM To: HANCOCK-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [HANCOCK-L] Ivy Roberts Hancock Who were the parents and ancestors of your Stephen Kavanaugh HANCOCK? 3. My mother said that her daddy's HANCOCK family was never talked about. She is the one who got me started with this genealogy research of the HANCOCK family. Her father was E. L. HANCOCK b. in GA (in Taliferro Co). All she knew was that her daddy's father died when he was 5 years old and his mother remarried. We were able to find that her grandfather's name was James A. HANCOCK b. 1850 and was the son of George HANCOCK b. 1827 or 1829 (don't know where) who was married to Elizabeth O'NEAL in 1847 in Greene Co, GA. James A Hancock had a brother, Henry HANCOCK born 2 years after James. I've never found out what happened to George or who his parents were but Elizabeth married L. B. (Aaron?) DAVIS in 1853 in Greene County shortly after Henry was born. Jasper County is very close to Greene and Taliferro County area and there could be a connection with yours. Do you have anymore names that I might be able to recognize? 3. Regina, I am looking for family of William H. Hancock who died in Jasper Co in 1836. (was born in Henrico Co VA in 1786). Wm was married in 1818 in Oglethorpe Co, near Greene Co. and was disinherited by his father. All I know about Wm. H. is what is above and am interested in any wills that might mention a son of that status or any other indication of a Hancock family with a son missing without explanation. It's possible that the rest of his immediate family was not in Georgia, but I think that he must have had some relatives there. Oh yes, I forgot that I do know that he came to Georgia for "health reasons." 2. Kelli Miller
    3. To Casey, I don't know if this will help but the 1810 Fayette Co. Ky. has only one Roberts listed. The name is Iven Roberts. His household consists of himself between 26 and 44 yrs old -- 1 white male between 0 and 10-- 1 white female between 0 and 10 -- 1 white female between 16 and 25. The two older people should be Iven and his wife and two children betwwen 0 and 10 yrs old. So Ivy Roberts could have been the girl. Also it wouldn't be hard seeing the similarity between Iven and Ivy. I hope this helps--------Alan Jeffrey

    3. OK...now I'm calibrated. According to the records my aunt developed, Robert Jr (b 1755, Surry Co VA; d 1831, Madison Co AL) also had a sister named Jemima (m Banks Meachum) and a brother named Henry (d1795; leaving a will that was probated 22 Jun 1795, Brunswick Co VA WB 5, p 607; Inventory in WB 6, p 33-34, rec'd 22 Feb 1796). Who do you show as the wife of Robert Jr (& mother of Clement) ? The Hancock land in Surry/Sussex Co VA was bounded by the Nottoway River. If I remember correctly, Robert Hancock of Madison Co AL sold some land formerly belonging to Robert Hancock Sr (close relation to Clement Hancock Sr of Surry/Sussex Co VA). You might want to check the deed records. If you open your mind to the possibility that someone (in Madison Co AL) who was not familiar with VA might have entered the information that Robert was from Nottoway in VA ...and that the entry really referred to an area on the Nottoway River rather than to Nottoway Co...you might discover one more generation for your Robert. Other researchers of this line have independently come to that conclusion. Just a thought. ~malinda Bill Felknor wrote: > Hi Malinda, > The Robert I am talking about was in Madison County, AL and was born in > 1755. He had a son named Clement.
