    3. Thanks, Ardath, maybe she will invite us over. Sue > Anyone on the Hancock list who goes through Frances (Fanny) Farrar, and John William Hancock, may want to know that they are cousins of the present Queen Elizabeth. I am her 20th cousin. I worked my way back to Charlemagne, and then found a web page that had Queen Elizabeth on it, with her Plantagenet ancestors which connected with Charlemagne, the same as I do, so I checked it out, and found out my relationship. I am still working on all the dates, and places of birth, marriage & death. When I am finished I will be willing to share. I am also looking for pictures or reproductions of paintings. One Web site also said that we were related to Juilus Caesar, and Mark Antony. It could be but well, I'm a bit of a skeptic. Just thought I would drop in and let those who are interested know. > > Ardath > > > ==== HANCOCK Mailing List ==== > This is a closed list. 3. Hi, Bob, You state below that Rachel BROCKMAN was a dau/o John PAGE of Orange Co., VA. If she was dau/o John PAGE, then her maiden name would be PAGE? Correct? In that case she would have married a man with the last name of BROCKMAN, unless you meant to say that her father was John BROCKMAN of Orange Co. Can you clarify? 1. Re: [HANCOCK-L] Austin HANCOCK family
    2. Audrey Shields Hancock
    3. Well, Bob, I have the name of John Adams HANCOCK for either (Capt.) John HANCOCK of Louisa Co., VA or his son known as John A. HANCOCK. I don't see a connection with the ADAMS family of MA, since this HANCOCK family was from Louisa Co., VA, so there may be a connection with the Virginia ADAMS family. Just haven't unearthed that one yet either. I assume that as the custom of the day that the middle name could represent a mother's maiden name or an ancestral surname. But...you know...there may be a chance that our HANCOCK families are related, but proving it is practically impossible knowing of all of the lost records that exist for Hanover, Louisa, Orange and other close VA counties. So...for now, I have to conclude as you do that they are two separate lines. I have even learned that one of the descendants of Austin went to North Carolina, where many of other HANCOCK lines are found. And...the DAVIS family intermarried into the BARTLETT family, which intermarried into the GRAVES family, which intermarried into the HANCOCK family. And...the GRAVES were connected to the BROCKMANs. Guess we will all keep lookin', chattin', and learnin' where, how, or if these HANCOCK families connect. We might even keep supposin' in the back of our minds. Happy Halloween all...our grandchildren are anxiously awaitin', Audrey ----- Original Message ----- From: <BOBHOP@aol.com> To: <HANCOCK-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 30, 2001 9:26 AM Subject: Re: [HANCOCK-L] Austin HANCOCK family > > In a message dated 10/29/01 9:05:13 PM, AudreyShieldsHancock@att.net writes: > > << I have not found a connection to any Major HANCOCK & family, and I don't > > think others working on Major's lineage has either >> > > Natalie- > > I would like to say that I agree with Audrey's comment. 1. [HANCOCK-L] Austin HANCOCK family
    2. Audrey Shields Hancock
    3. Hi, Natalie, Yes, Nancy HANCOCK b ca 1787, dau/o Austin HANCOCK & Ann/Anna NUCKOL(D)S/NICHOLS, married 1806 Louisa Co., VA to John P. THOMASSON, Jr. Austin was son of Benjamin HANCOCK (1735 -1805) & Mary BEADLES per Austin's pension record. I have not found a connection to any Major HANCOCK & family, and I don't think others working on Major's lineage has either. I have tentatively identified Benjamin & Mary's children (based upon preponderance of information) to be: William HANCOCK (b ca 1751) m Jemima BROCKMAN & lived in Orange Co., VA. His children are found in KY. John HANCOCK (b 1753) m Nancy Ann GRAVES & lived in Louisa Co., VA;Franklin, Woodford, & Fayette Cos., KY before settling permanently in Butler Co., OH. Joseph HANCOCK (b 1759) m Nancy Ann DICKENSON and they lived in Hanover Co., VA. His son, John, m Susan Pettus GRAVES in Louisa Co., VA and went to Todd Co., KY and Christian Co., KY. Austin HANCOCK (b 1760) was born in Goochland Co., VA and lived the rest of his life in Louisa Co., VA Certainly there were other siblings and other family connections.
