Among other probable attendees are Hobbamock, Quadequina (Massasoit’s brother), and Tokamahamon (mentioned in Mourt’s Relation in June 1621, as a "special friend"). We do not know whether Samoset was still in the Plymouth area or had already returned to Maine. Happy Thanksgiving! forwarded from another list.........

    3. Hi Helene, On your 1st item....I think the Samuel Smith mentioned in John Hancock's deed abstract might be mine. I don't know if my Smith line was from VA, but they tended to marry transplanted Virginians, which makes me wonder. I also wonder if the Isham Hancock in that same item might be the source of the given name of my CSA Cavalry Capt. Isham Richey Wallis. My Wallis folks were in the Chatham/Randolph Co NC area from 1772 until about 1812. Speculating a little further, it would be tempting to theorize that these folks with early Ishams were possibly from VA and named their children after Henry Isham...maternal great grandfather of Thomas Jefferson. I've been hunting for the Isham link and source for a while now. Just some thoughts.... ~malinda Helene Pockrus wrote: > Posting this in hopes that someone will see a connection I am missing for my Isham Hancock born 1799 in Georgia. Any takers? > > B:30. "Died at his residence, ten miles northwest from Huntsville on the 15th inst., The Rev. ROBERT HANCOCK, in the 77th year of his age. He was a native of Nottoway County, Virginia. In the year 1790, he emigrated to South Carolina, and from thence in 1811, to his late residence in this County. Mr. Hancock was amiable in his disposition, industrious in his habits, and thereby rendered his family both easy and happy in their circumstances. He was a true patriot, and during the great revolutionary struggle felt much interest for the safety and welfare of his County, and though disabled by an unavoidable accident to render actual service, he did everything in the compass of his power to promote the cause of liberty. But above all, he was a true friend to religion, and a sincere lover of his God; for 52 years he has been an acceptable member of the Methodist Episcopal church, and for about 30 years a local minister of said church. His talents were respectable, his piety deep, his zeal ardent, his conduct irreproachable, his usefulness extensive; in short, he was a light in a benighted land, and like unto a city set on a hill which cannot be hid,—and now, though he is dead, he will be remembered as one of the church's brightest ornaments for more than a half a century. His memory will ever be cherished with the fondest recollections by his surviving children, friends, and numerous acquaintances. But he has gone to the house appointed for all the living, yet our loss is his infinite gain; he is not dead, but is only sleeping in Jesus. Such will God bring with Him! therefore we sorrow not as those who have no hope. His last illness was long, and his afflictions severe, yet he evinced the patience and fortitude of a christian soldier; and notwithstanding his body was worn down by old age and infirmity, his mind in a great degree retained vigor until the last; and with the prospect of eternal life full in view, he calmly sank in the arms of his blessed Jesus. 'Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright, for the end of that man is peace.' 'Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his.' "—Communicated.—The Democrat, Huntsville, Ala., April 21, 1831. --Boundary_(ID_Lez/rKTahP/XgEBGDHWg5g) Content-type: text/x-vcard; charset=koi8-r; name=just-bob.vcf Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT Content-disposition: attachment; filename=just-bob.vcf Content-description: Card for Bob begin:vcard n:Binstein;Bob tel;home:818 / 341-7229 x-mozilla-html:FALSE adr:;;;;;; version:2.1 email;internet:just-bob@pacbell.net x-mozilla-cpt:;5952 fn:Bob Binstein end:vcard --Boundary_(ID_Lez/rKTahP/XgEBGDHWg5g)--

    1. [HANCOCK-L] MARY SAFRONIA HANCOCK DAVIS -1814-TENN / ARKANSAS
    2. Mary Margaret Meyer
    3. I am searching for the parents of MARY SAFRONIA HANCOCK (born August 20, 1814 in (?) Tennessee) who married CLEMENT DAVIS before 1838 and they lived at Athens, Howard County, Arkansas. Their children were: Emily, Nancy Evaline, Isabel Safronia, Martha Elizabeth, Luiddy Luricy, Sryena Rebecca, - and perhaps they had more children. Are there any researcher on the HANCOCK line that have this person in their records? I would appreciate hearing from you and exchanging information. Thanks, Mary Meyer mmm3@pdq.net

    2. Cecile Harrell
    3. Helene, I'm still here, but haven't found anything on my William H. Hancock other than the info that I found several years ago in his wife Judith Wise's family history. Here it is again for anyone new on the list: William H. Hancock was born in Richmond (Henrico Co) VA 21 Feb 1786. He came to Georgia for "health reasons" and married Judith Wise in Oglethorpe Co GA 15 June 1818. He was "disinherited by his father for 'marrying a planter's daughter.'" Wm H died 9 Apr 1836 in Jasper Co GA. My line to Wm & Judith is through their second daughter Sophia. Will post her siblings and their spouses later. I don't know if Wm came to GA straight from VA or if his family had moved down into the Carolinas before. One of my theories is that he was dumped by his dad because of religious beliefs that would not accept a planter's (& slaveowner) family. Any help or other theories welcome. Helene, I am going to send you personally my total agreement with you about Word Perfect's superiority to MWord.
