Ardath, Have a Merry Christmas. Just got back from Northern California and it was cool and rainy. Lots of snow in the Sierras. Here's a recipe for your holidays Helene Fruitcake Recipe 1 cup water 1 cup sugar 4 large eggs 2 cups dried fruit 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup brown sugar lemon juice nuts 1 gallon whiskey Sample the whiskey to check for quality. Take a large bowl. Check the whiskey again to be sure it is of the highest quality. Pour one level cup and drink. Repeat. Turn on the electric mixer; beat 1 cup butter in a large, fluffy bowl. Add 1 teaspoon of sugar and beat again. Make sure the whiskey is still OK. Cry another tup. Turn off mixer. Break 2 legs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit. Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers, pry it loose with a drewscriver. Sample the whiskey to check for tonsisticity. Next, sift 2 cups of salt. Or something. Who cares? Check the whiskey. Now sift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Spoon. Of sugar or something. Whatever you can find. Grease the oven. Turn the cake tin to 350 degrees. Don't forget to beat off the turner. Throw the bowl out of the window. Check the whiskey again. Go to bed. Who the heck likes fruitcake anyway? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ardath Buckaway" <bqueen@compusmart.ab.ca> To: <HANCOCK-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, December 04, 2001 7:18 PM Subject: [HANCOCK-L] A Vacation > To anyone on the list who may want to contact me..........I will be unsubscribing from the list until sometime in Jan. Joanne, Ironically I have HANCOCK, THORNTON, and GREEN as surnames, but no family that seems to connect with yours. I remember seeing info on the THORNTON surname mailing list from GA, Alabama, and SC. Have you tried posting to that list? It might be worth a query. Good luck with your search. I picked up a marriage for him in Baldwin Co Georgia Dec 23, 1851 to Mary Stephens. Know nothing further but got interested in him as I too have 2 Augustus Hancocks in our lineage. I agree. You do yourself, nor anyone else, a favor by not staying current on viruses. They are extremely bad lately and increasingly more sophisticated. Trojans are especially bad, as they can allow your computer to be 'monitored'. This is not a flame, just looking out for everyone. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Helene Pockrus" <helenepockrus@earthlink.net> To: <HANCOCK-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, December 04, 2001 6:08 PM Subject: Re: [HANCOCK-L] HELP > Bob have you got the Measles too!?
