    2. Arvil Hancock may have documented his work well; but he has Dawson Alexander Hancock buried in the wrong place. Dawson Alexander Hancock is my great-great grandfather. He did not die in Cherokee Co!!!!!!!!!!! He died in Pine Hill, TX in Rusk Co, TX and is buried in Methodist Cemetery in Pine Hill. I have tried to contact him to make the correction; but have been unable to do so. Karen Duran Dean

    2. So glad to know Avil (CA) is still with us and to know his Hancock line is well documented. Just haven't heard from him in a very long time.

    1. Re: [HANCOCK-L] Hancock/Spencer connections
    2. I hope in your message about Arvil Hancock that (dec'd) doesn't mean deceased. Arvil is very much alive and, still, living in CA. He has only become inactive in genealogy research as his line is completely and thoroughly documented. That, just, shows that we must all pipe up once in a while or folks will think we are dead. <g> All that Arvil wrote below is correct. But the William who married Elizabeth Spencer is not the same William who appeared in Bath and Craven Co., NC. 3. I am sending the following Hancock marriages in Georgia from p. 642-643 in "History of Butts County, Georgia." This is one line, with 2 generations of marriages. Have recently realized that my contribution of this family to the Hancock Genealogy Project, Chart #19 does not contain the marriage of the only male descendent (last on this list). If there are descendents of this line, I would have the happiest day of my limited research on this family to make contact with them. William H. Hancock m. Judith Wise, 15 June 1818; Oglethorpe Co. 2. I have done lots of research in Hancock and Jasper Counties, GA because my Bridgers, Bruces, Richards and others were there from the Granville, Franklin, Edgecombe area of NC. They were connected to the Barnes and Chapman families. I would love to see a descendant of John Hancock and Susanah Bridges DNA tested against these GA Hancocks. I have a hunch they would match. 3. Hi, I decend from the Longmeadow, Mass Hancocks. I have a record that shows JOBEZ Hancock, born July 29, 1728, died September 19, 1819 in Waterville NY and was married to Rachel Wright. According to what I have, Jobez was a brother to my 5th gr grandfather, Daniel Hancock. Daniel and Jobez were 2 of many children of John and Annie Webb Hancock. John was the son of Thomas and Rachael Leonard. I do not find any other Jobez or Jabez Hancocks in my records. I was the last Hancock born in my line and there are no males left, to my knowledge. My father only had one brother and both brothers had 2 daughters. Wish I could help with the DNA study. Paula Hancock Roberts

Audrey, William is my line, however, there are many errors in all that you sent. First, he was married to an Elizabeth and we thought, for a long time that this William was the son of William Hancock and Elizabeth Cockcroft. William died 17 May 1687 in Lower Norfolf, VA. Their son, William moved to Surry Co., VA and married Elizabeth Spencer, however, he remained there. The William about which you are inquiring is the one who was transported to Bath County (now Craven Co.) NC in about 1694 with his wife, Elizabeth and son, William. William, Sr. was born about 1665 and died in 1730 in Craven Co., NC. William (Capt. William) married and had John, William, Elizabeth and Mary. Both John and William died young and John may be the one you mention who died in 1731. William died before 1747. Capt. William married Elizabeth Durham in 1715 and had Durham, James and Sarah. Elizabeth must have died because when he wrote his will, his wife was Dorothy. He and Dorothy had a son William and an unborn child mentioned in the will. So far, we haven't found the origins of William and Elizabeth since we have learned he doesn't match with DNA to the VA Hancocks. Julia

You will need to supply the State and County, as well as the name of the claimant and the claim number if you have it. A page count will be done and they will then create a Reproduction Order Price Quote and mail it to you. You can also file online to this address. [email protected] The same rules apply as above. I have included the address information because it took me several days of dilligent searching before I could find an address. I finally found one on a RootsWeb message board, but while they included the street name, they did not include the street number. I got that by going back to the NARA web page, which does not include an address specific to the SCC. Earlier I had emailed NARA and they responded back two weeks later with the address for electronic filing.

    3. Bill, I've been on vacation the past week, but when I read your message, I wanted to reply. I have not seen this book you are describing and would love to have a copy of it if possible. The family is the family of John Hancock and Susanna Bridges from Cumberland Co., NC. John's will is found in Cumberland, where he died, evidently quite young, as his wife is listed as 'with child' in the will. Let me know if it would be possible to get a copy of this material, as there has been much confusion on this family.
