Hi Folks, This was on my Montgomery Co., TN list. Hope someone can help Dan. His addy is below. Thanks, Jean Hancock in TX ----- Original Message ----- From: Dan Vass To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, September 12, 2003 10:39 PM Subject: [TNMONTGO-L] Mary (Mollie) Susan HANCOCK and Joseph HANCOCK Need info on Mary (Mollie) Susan HANCOCK and Joseph HANCOCK. They were married April 24, 1868 in Todd Co, Ky. I think they resided in Montgomery Co. TN. They had a daughter, Annie Willie HANCOCK; she died on Aug. 7, 1942 and lived near Peacher's Mill. Annie was married to a James HANCOCK; they had three children, two sons, A.E. HANCOCK, L.H. HANCOCK, and one daughter, Mrs. B.P. YARBROUGH. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. Dan Vass. ______________________________
I was looking at the "Complete Book of Immigrants 1661-1699" by Thomas Coldham, and found an entry for a Nathaniel Hancock in 1662 on pg. 29. It said he was bound to a William Hudson, 4 yrs. Virginia by "Concord" (I think that is the ship). Does anyone know anything about this Nathaniel and where he came from? Also in that same book, pg. 346 in 1679 an entry read: 12-27 Sept Shippers by the "Willing Mind" probably also a ship, bound from London for Virginia-William Hancock And one other entry24 April 1685 The following apprenticed in London--William Hancock, aged 23 singleman, son of Walter H. of Mark, somerset, farrier, deceased, to the same( John Williams) 4 years Barbados, witnessed by his friend and countryman, John Child. Are any of these lines familiar to anyone. I am wondering what lines they are from. Many of the people who went to Barbados settled in the SC area. Thanks, Becky
Thanks, Bob, Has anyone researched this Thomas? Where did he come from? Could this be the unknown ancestor of so many who seem to connect via Y-DNA? Certainly there were other lines coming from Thomas and his son, Thomas. Is anymore known about Robert? This Thomas HANCOCK could have been here in early York Co. and family spread out from there. I think Lisa said that Benjamin Hancock (wf/Mary Beadles) of Hanover Co., VA was said on a CD to be descended from a John Hancock of York Co., VA, but of course no proof. If true, could the two Thomases and John have been somehow related? Boy, lots of things to digest here! Anyone have any facts or resources that they can add to this line or information. Thomas Hancock, d bef 1698 ....Thomas Hancock, liv York Co. 1662; patented land New Kent Co., VA 1666; 1702 King William Co., VA land grant; m (1) Winifred ??? & m (2) widow of James Bond .......Robert Hancock In looking at county formation and knowing the early migration may help us. Since I can connect our HANCOCK line migration to Hanover, Orange, & Louisa, this is what I find. Charles River County, origial 1634 became York Co. 1642 New Kent County, was formed in 1654. King & Queen County was formed from New Kent in 1691. New Kent, became county seat in 1691. New Kent was once formed part of Charles River County 1634 (became York Co.-1642), and orgininally included part or all of King & Queen, King William, Spotsylvania and Hanover. Then came these splits: Hanover Co., Louisa Co., & Orange Co., VA are adjacent counties. Hanover County formed 1720 from New Kent Co., VA. Orange County formed 1734 from Spotsylvania Co., VA. Louisa County formed 1742 from Hanover Co., VA. Wonder where this will take us...to more dead ends probably! Funny you should say Shelties are protective, my grand daughter has one named Sassy. When she was two, the dog use to try and round her up if when she wandered further away from where Sassy thought she should be. Love the way it knows it territory and stays there. Keeps Courtney there too. LOL Trisha
We are busy hand feeding our 9 new babies so Gwennie doesn't get worn down. She is only equiped for 8<VBG>. We should be doing it every 2 hours, but are trying to make it 3 times a day until they are a bit older. Feeding them Lamb's milk . Hope they don't end up with wool! We have 2 females and 7 males. Beautifully marked and good champion lines. Should sell between $400 and $500. Breeder said it was the largest litter he has seen for a first time mother and only once has seen 9 at a time. You know these Mormon & Catholic mothers always have large families.
