Hi again, I tried sending my family line again, but I still don't think it worked. This time I will just type it out, not using an attached document. Some of you may have received this already. As I said before, I am using someone else's computer, so it may take a while to get back to each of you, though I am really looking forward to to joining you all in this exciting search into the Hamricks!! I am really excited! I did not expect so many replies in reference to my direct line. Thank you for sharing your information. My family line is as follows: My mother, Jana Walraven, is the daughter of Kathleen Woodzell Walraven who was born and raised in Webster Springs, WV. Kay's parents, both born in Webster Co., were Charles Woodzell, b 1883 and Lovica Susan Hamrick, b 1887. Lovica was the daughter of Margaret G. Dodrill, b 1858 and Vincent Hamrick, b Sept 1845; both born in Webster Co. Vincent was the first son of Christopher Hamrick and Eva Gregory, b 1827 Randolph Co. Christopher was born 15 July 1824 in Nicholas Col and died in 1882. His parents were Benjamin Hamrick, who fought in the War of 1812, b 10 Feb 1782 in Faquier Co. and Nancy Agness Gregory, b 1792 Bath Co. Benjamin's parents were Benjamin Hamrick of the Revolution, b 1755 Prince WIlliam Co.? and Nancy McMillian (or is is Mc Millen?), b 1762 Faquier Co. Benjamin of the American Revolution, according to many who replied to my letter, was the son of Benjamin and Mary Sias, and the latter Benjamin was the son of Patrick Hamrick. Most of my info came from Mayme H. Hamrick's book, The Hamrick and other Families. I had been confused by the paragraph in her book regarding the three Benjamins and now that several people have clarified the info, I am interested to know of any records that exist that prove the connection between Patrick and the subsequent Benjamins. I've been unable to find the land records from 1740 mentioned in Mayme's book of Patrick Hamrick and John Sias; Faquier and Prince Wm. Co. Clerks say they don't have them. However, you may be interested toknow that Scott Parham at the Prince Wm CO. Circuit Court, found what he calls a "rare document," an administrator's bond for a Patrick Hamrick, deceased, and is signed by a Patrick Hamrick( his son?). So I guess there are 3 Benjamins, 2 Nancys and now 2 Patricks! Now I am wondering which of the two Patrick's on this document was the father of Benjamin, wife Mary Sias. Mayme H. Hamrick seems to lean toward the notion that the Hamrick name is English, though she does cite a passenger list from Snow Lowther, from Rotterdam, Germany. Kay remembers her grandmother, a Dodrill, used to make German dishes and always assumed that her grandmother learned these dishes form Vincent. Any ideas.? Thanks again for your help. I hope my info is useful to you. Jennifer Henson Smith San Antonio, TX E-Mail: <[email protected]>
