Hello all, I've been away for a while and thus read last month's S.C. Jones/Hans George debate in one sitting yesterday; hope you don't mind this question. Does anyone know if the "German George" theory came from Jones himself, or from the Hamricks he interviewed? If Jones discovered "Hans Jerg Hammerich" in the archives, I can easily see him shouting "Eureka!" and erroneously assuming he had found the missing link. But if "German George" came from family tradition, how did an unrelated early 18th-century German refugee get into the oral tradition of an Irish family, with at least a few key facts intact?
