Your message is interesting and sound like of the family but I really can't tell you anything. I can tell you that the Crowell family moved from Lewis and Wayne COs, TX to Green County, Ill in the 1850 - 1860s. With them were many other families including Hamrick/Hambrick folks. This is a German name and the 'b' is pronounced but not spelled in the name. It is spelled Hamric, and Hambrick. I believe that you could bank on the idea that it was spelled differently back when. I am going to forward you message to a cousin who has the date base for the Crowell family and see if she has a Ben.
