    3. Hi David - I read your note and the only thing that comes to mind is your JOHN HAMBRICK whose widow Louisa Matilda was living in Lowndes Co. in the 1830's. I found..just this week...all that Hambrick history on this site: www.cmpu.net/public/jmckinny Probaby you have seen this too. In my research, I found my PETER HAMBRICK b. 1781 which is as far back as I had been able to trace. On this site I see that PETER was the son of CHARLES and MARY FLORENCE "HAMRICK". It then shows that PETER had a son JOHN b. 1809. I was missing that generation! I had found PETER living with a JOHN HAMBRICK on census record (*see my notes below), but this John was b. 1835 and I thought Peter was too old to have a son born then and it had to be a grandson...so then I didn't know who this John's father was. Never could find him. Now I know his father was a JOHN also. Here is our line---but remember JOHN b. 1809 is missing from here: Descendants of Peter Hambrick 1 Peter Hambrick b: ABT 1781 in VA d: ABT 1871 in MS . +Elizabeth (Unknown) b: ABT 1776 in VA d: Bef. 1860 in MS .... 2 John (Jack) Hambrick b: 1835 in AL ? d: in TX ? ........ +Nancy J. Hambrick b: 1875 in MS ............... +James Barrington ........... 3 William Hambrick b: 1869 These are all my notes: On the 1870 Census Record for Choctaw County, Bankston, Mississippi, there is: John Hambrick age 22, Farmer, born in Miss., could not read or write Nancy, wife, age 19, keeping house, born in Miss., could read but not write William, son, age 1 year, born in Miss. about 1869. Peter Hambrick, age 89, born in VA abt 1781, (must have been the grandfather of John Hambrick living there). The above-William Hambrick, age 1, must then be the older brother of James Little Hambrick. (JLH was born 10/5/1872). William may have died in infancy because he does not show up on any other Census records I could find. Also listed living next to the above family on 1870 Census are: L. Hambrick, female, age 50, keeping house, born in GA, could not read or write Lericy J., (sp.?) female age 23, born in Miss., could not write Mary, age 20, born in Miss., could not write Martha (?), age 15, born in Miss., could not write On 1860 CENSUS Choctaw Co., Bankston, MS, were: Lucinda Hambrick, female, age 43(?) householder ?, real estate valued $960, b. in GA Sarah A., age 18, spinster, b. Mississippi Lavicy (?sp) age 16, spinster, b. MS John, age 13 b. MS Mary, age 10 b. MS Martha, age 5 b. MS and Peter Hambrick, age 78, farmer b. VA NOTE: Ages of the above family members are questionable on the 1870 Census. According to the 1910 Census Record, John Hambrick (22) was born in Alabama and not Hamburg, Germany (Hamburg is what my husband's mother always heard). According to the Census Record of 1870, Choctaw County, Bankston P.O., Miss., this man's grandfather was Peter Hambrick, born in VA and not born in Germany. The family says they were from Hamburg, so originally they could have come from Hamburg, Germany, probably early 1700's. Since the above-Peter Hambrick was 89 years old and appears to be too old to be the father of John (Jack) Hambrick, we are missing his son's name. This son would be John (Jack) Hambrick's father and James Little Hambrick's grandfather. Need to find the missing name. This person would also "appear" to be the husband of the above Lucinda Hambrick, female age 50, on 1860 & 1870 Census. ******End of my notes****** I do not know where this earlier family lived. They could have lived in GA, then moved on to Mississippi which is where I found them. I don't know if you can fit your family in with my group or not....see what you can do and let me know what you think. I printed out all the HAMRICK line down through PETER from that web site but haven't had time to really study it yet. I never knew PETER had all those siblings etc. But as you will see from the descendant chart on that web site that there is nothing about Peter's son JOHN b. 1809....no other info beyond that generation. I did e-mail the J. McKinney listed on the address and gave him all of my Hambrick's to add....haven't heard from him yet. Sure hope we can make a connection here.....I haven't really be working on this for a while so am a bit "rusty". Hope I answered your questions. Looking forward to hearing from you real soon. Thanks for your info and e-mail. (I use Family Treemaker) Jane Slaughter I was going through some of my notes and ran across this info. I don't know if it will be of use to you or not. >From Confederate Pension Rolls: HAMBRICK, Laura J. Tagewell County, VA, Act of 1916, Roll 147, page 375. Memo 10/19/17 $33. I don't know where I found this....been too long.
