    3. Thanks Tressie for the confirmation of the info with sources. I had that in my notes, but have run up against such a lot of incorrect/unreliable census data that its become hard for me to trust it. As I understand it, the general consensus...based on war records and census records...is that Burwell Hamrick and Berrell Hampton Hambrick ARE NOT the same individuals. One is the son of Thomas Hamrick and Sarah Scurlock and the other has not been confirmed at all. However, generally speaking, it APPEARS that it is likely that Berrell Hampton Hambrick/Hamrick is the grandson of Thomas Hamrick, most likely by his son Joseph and his wife Nancy Townsend. Is there any census data out for Joseph and Nancy Hamrick? Is there a will for Joseph or Nancy? Also, why do you think that Berrell Hampton Hambrick is the son of Joseph and not one of Thomas Hamrick's other sons? Has anyone done any work on Nancy Townsend's background? Know who her parents were? I'd really like to try and find out where the Hampton came in for a name. I've run into lines in the passed where the maternal grandmother's name was passed down, or a sister's or aunt's married name. If we could find this info, it would bolster a circumstantial case as to his true parentage.
