    3. Well gang, more cool news, genealogy is fun again. California Hamrick info~ I just talked with the gentleman who owns the old Hamrick property off Ridge Road, and he tells me he will take us to exactly where the old Hamrick Toll Road is/was where Jesse used to collect a toll from the wagons that would travel across his property.......and get this.......there are still old wagon ruts in the road, which is wonderful news. If you have studied anything about the migration west during the gold rush you know how important wagon ruts are from an historical point of view, and well they are there, on private property and we get to go see them. He also has the original homestead deed signed by President Grover Cleveland that Elizabeth Hamrick filed in 1886, and the other subsequent deeds that transfered the property to Henry and then to his family, I have asked him for photocopies, I hope he will share them. In addition he told me what happened to the old house, in 1941 it was scooted back off its foundation to where the 3 locust trees which the Hamrick's planted still are, big huge trees, then they poured a new foundation cause the Hamrick foundation was rock, and they built their home, eventually the Hamrick house was bull dozed and 2 of the old doors from the Hamrick house were used in the Aparicio house, one in the basement and is still there, the other i don't know. Also the hydrangeas were kept and are still there from Hamrick days, in the front of the house. I'm feeling good, my legs are free now, i'm trying to walk and I think things are really looking up, so much has happened. laters, Jill ~aloha~ from jill in maui http://www.maui.net/~mauifun/genweb.htm
