William Hamrick age 16-21 was listed with his father John on the 1788, 1789, 1790 Fauquier Co tax lists. He is listed separately in 1791, and no William appears in 1792. A William reappears 1798 through 1804.

William, son of Benjamin and Mary (Sias) is a likely choice, but how did a Fauquier Co VA guy get involved with Capt. Caperton's western VA unit?
I think there comes a point when I ought to restain myself from asking Tressie Nealy for information she already has given me. It begins to make me look like a certifiable genealogist rather than a certified one, which I am not. This William fits the chronology of the William whom Tressie Nealy and Allen Hamrick have listed as the son of Benjamin Hamrick and Mary Sias. The William Hamrick of West Virginia who was the son of the Benjamin who married Nancy McMillian was, according to my information, only three years old in 1797. Another question: Was your William Hamrick in Army of Andrew Lewis? dhamrick@neo.rr.com Dan Hamrick 402 23rd Street NW Canton OH 44709 Phone and fax: 330-454-2376 ---------- >From: WVHAMRICK <WVHAMRICK@prodigy.net> >To: HAMRICK-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [HAMRICK-L] William Hamrick 1792 >Date: Thu, Dec 9, 1999, 6:57 PM > >To clarify my posting on William Hamrick, I have the following >information in my data: > >Abstract of the Roll of Captain Hugh Caperton's Company of Rangers on > >duty on the Frontiers of Greenbrier and Kanawha Counties as it was > >May 6, 1792 > >Source: "Calendar of VA State Papers," Vol. V, pp. 536, 537 - > >William Hamrick on service on the Kanawha Frontier > >I desire information to clarify who this William Hamrick was. >
On my records I have 2 Benjamins and 2 Williams if this isn't right let me know. I have Benjamin that married Nancy McMillion and the had a son William F 1789-1851 and Benjamin his father that married Mary Sias and the also had a son William 1756-1790. To clarify my posting on William Hamrick, I have the following information in my data: Abstract of the Roll of Captain Hugh Caperton's Company of Rangers on duty on the Frontiers of Greenbrier and Kanawha Counties as it was May 6, 1792 Source: "Calendar of VA State Papers," Vol. V, pp. 536, 537 - William Hamrick on service on the Kanawha Frontier I desire information to clarify who this William Hamrick was.
Good evening Hamrick, Hamric, Hambrick, etc., searchers. William Hamrick was located on a list of those on the Kanawha Frontier in 1792. I have always wondered who this William Hamrick was. Can you help? Caroline WVHAMRICK@prodigy.net
Tressie, Thanks for the Benjamin & Joel Hamrick information. So nice of you to share. Where did this John & William Hamrick end up? Did they stay in Fauquier County? Caroline WVHAMRICK@prodigy.net
That's a great inquiry, and I'm relaying it to related lists. >From: WVHAMRICK <WVHAMRICK@prodigy.net> >To: HAMRICK-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [HAMRICK-L] WV Hamricks - Joel Hamrick 1770-1850ish >Date: Wed, Dec 8, 1999, 5:16 PM > >Hi folks, > >Seeking documented proof that Benjamin Hamrick 1755 (of the Revolution), >ancestor of many Webster and surrounding counties Hamricks and their >descendants, was a brother to Joel Hamrick 1770, ancestor of many Clay >and surrounding counties Hamricks and their descendants. > >Caroline >WVHAMRICK@prodigy.net >

In 1800 he has a wife, a son, and three daughters? Okay, William would have been 66 in 1790 and 76 in 1800 (based on the above birth date; I hope that's a typo). Sally would have been 13 (on 1 Jan) in 1790 and 23 in 1800. When did she marry? Elizabeth would have been 11 or 12 in 1790 and 21/22 in 1800. When did she marry? Mary would have been 18 in 1790 and 28 in 1800. George would have been 9 and 19. Ann would have been 7 and 17. Susannah would have been just under 4 and just under 14. In all probability, Susannah would have still been living at home in 1800. Quite likely Ann was also still at home in 1800. And it's very possible that George was also home still at age 19 (although that one is iffy). Now the part that really confused me. If you have a date of birth for George of 20 Jan 1781, why would you write that he was born after 1800? If Susannah was born 22 May 1786, did she die and another daughter was born after 1800 and named Susanna (without the "h")? And if James is married to Susanna, who on earth is Pricilla - a second wife? Like I said, I'm really, really confused by this. Are you saying that someone somewhere made up some of the birthdates? Kathy, James Ham(b)rick and Susanna were living in Rutherford, NC on land he purchased from his brother Enoch Hamrick on both sides of Shoal Creek in 1785. In 1790 he was in the 6th Company census with his brothers and cousins Nathan, Jeremiah, Henry, Sam, and Price. He had one boy and a wife with three girls, and one older female. In 1800 he had a son 16-26, probably William, a girl 0-10, 2 girls 10-16, his wife, and an older woman over 45 perhaps his wife's mother. Since Pricilla says the estate of her husband in her will 1808 he would have died after 1800 and before 1808. Since the 1800 census accounts for only three girls and a boy probably William, Jenny, Molly, and Rebecca; I would think George , Ann, and Susanna were born after 1800. I have William no birthrate about 1724 I have Sally birthdate 5 Oct 1776 I have Elizabeth no birthdate about 1778 I have Mary no birthdate about 1772 I have George 20 Jan 1781 I have Ann no Birthdate about 1783 I have Susannah 22 May 1786 Does anyone have the missing birthdates? Pricilla knew her legal name, her husband's name, and her children's married names if married and did not use the nickname that had been assigned to her by hundreds of home genealogies that had been passed down for many years and were known to be correct by all. Does anyone know what happened to William Hamrick? He got away before I caught him. I also missed Ann. Any help appreciated. I wish Tressie had some help in identifying James Hamrick's father. jrm J R Hamrick Hambrick Genealogy at: http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com or http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~hamrick -----Original Message----- From: Dan and Kathy Eck [mailto:dkeck@alaska.net] Sent: Wednesday, December 08, 1999 3:33 AM To: HAMRICK-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [HAMRICK-L] Question? "SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT" I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend, he referred to the dates on her tombstone from the beginning....to the end. He noted that first came the date of her birth and spoke of the following with tears, But he said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years. For that dash represents all the time that she spent alive on earth, And now only those who loved her know what that little line is worth. For it matters not, how much we own, the cars, the house, the cash, What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash. So think about this long and hard, are there things you'd like to change? For you never know how much time is left, you could be at "dash midrange." If we could just slow down enough to consider what's true and real, And always try to understand the way other people feel. And be less quick to anger and show appreciated more, And love the people in our lives like we've never loved before. If we treat each other with respect, and more often wear a smile, Remembering that his special dash might only last a little while. So, when your eulogy's being read with your life's actions to rehash, Would you be proud of the things they say about how you spent your dash. Author Unknown
