Jill and Hamrick's, I received a very nice present last week. A Jones relative of mine from Rutherford, NC (also related to S C Jones) has moved to near Manassas, Va. I told her about Patrick Sr's grave yard. She went over to see it and met Mrs. Johnson who had lived there. The Clover Farm had stayed in the Johnson family ever since Patrick sold it to Rut Johnson. It had been a dairy until 1989 when it was sold to a church. The Johnson's continued to use the Hamrick grave site as their family burial plot and had greatly enlarged it's size. It now has a very beautiful field stone wall several feet thick capped with a flat concrete surface. The wall looks about 3 feet high and has two field stone pillars about 6 feet high at the entrance. On the left pillar is a granite plaque that has engraved "Restored by the Johnson Family 1990". On the right pillar is another plaque which has "CLOVER HILL FARM CEMETERY, Hamrick 1770, Johnson 1770". Between the two pillars is a double hung gate about 12 feet across. The top of the gate is solid with "CLOVER FARM PARK CEMETERY" cut out of the metal. There are many covenentional grave stones and also many erect flat stones with no inscription. In addition there are many graves marked by large field stones. I was told there were some stones outside the wall that had not been used. There is no marker for Patrick Sr and his grave may be unmarked by any stone. My Jones cousin enclosed a photo album and a tape. The tape was dictated by my cousin and described each picture as though we were on a walking tour from picture to picture. Going through the tape and looking at the pictures I felt that I had been there. Some time back Jill encouraged me to put my Hamrick data on a web site. However my data is rather large and hard to put a single site that would be usable to visitors. I found a program that may have solved this problem. I have a site at: http://www.cmpu.net/public/jmckinny You need a JAVA enabled browser to look at all views of the data, without it you can only see one view. You can download Netscape Communicator 4.05 free from: http://www.netscape.com or use the the other browser. When you click on the web page and you are Java enabled you will see a white "Search" box in the left lower corner. After clicking on it type "hamrick" in the search box at the top of the page and it will tell how many Hamrick's are on the page. Click on the Hamrick and type "Hamrick, Patrick" in the next search box. (you need a space after the Hamrick,) At the top left corner is the word views. Click on it and it will permit you to select one of 6 views of the data. If you select "Descendants" and are on Patrick, Hamrick Sr you will see an outline of his descendants. Everyone in the file is a descendant of Patrick Hamrick Sr except for spouses. You can trace down any of his children to the person you are interested in and print out the descendants from that person on down. You can also back to the Box where you put "Hamrick, Patrick" put Hamrick, (any given name) and go to that person immediately. If anyone has a PAF GEDCOM 5.5 (not Mac) and sends it to me, I can quickly add their data to the next upload. I will be happy to accept text data also but it will be longer to get on the site as I have to manually type it in. The above site of 5,000 represents about 30% of my data. I will be adding to it for a long time. Check back occasionally and see what is new or if your data is there yet. Much of the data is in error and needs correction. Everyone knows more correct information about their own ancestors that I do. Some of the dates are computer generated. I know this is against "all" rules of Genealogy. However computer peogram authors are seldom genealogy researchers. PAF3 will generate a date and place of birth for persons lacking that information. I have tried to avoid this but it creeps in. Hello everyone, The early information down to John Marshall Hamrick, may or may not be correct on this attached message. I do know that the son of John Marshall Hamrick is NOT Dock Cortez Hamrick. I was given that information when I first joined the Hamrick page. Dock Cortez Hamrick is my great-great grandfather. ALL of the information that follows his name was provided by myself. I do know that information if correct. People have erronously attached Dock Cortez as the son of John Marshall. I have proof that this is not correct. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE! Born in Cleveland County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Asa Henderson and Sally Patterson Rollins. She was a devoted member of Tryon First Baptist Church and was an avid golfer at Tryon Country Club. She was a former member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a graduate of Appalachian State University. She taught elementary school for over 30 years in Rutherford County, Tryon, and Mt. Holly, NC until she retired in 1970 along with her husband, a former superintendent of Tryon City Schools. Her hobbies included bridge and travel as well as golf. She was the widow of Laxton Hamrick who died in 1995. Surviving are two daughters, Sally Jo Carter and June Brady, both of Tryon, NC; one son, Philip Hamrick of Matthews, NC; one sister, Thelma Rollins of Grover, NC; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her dear friend, Lillie Nesbitt, who attended her during her illness. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 1998, in Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus, NC, with Dr. Darryl E. Maxwell officiating. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Sally Jo Carter, 105 Meadowlark Drive, Tryon, NC. Memorials may be made to Tryon First Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 1287, Tryon, NC 28782; or to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 421 N. Trade St., Tryon, NC 28782. Julia A. Hamrick married my ggg grandfather George W. Wolverton. I'm trying to locate information on him. Julia was born in Webster County WV. Julia is the daughter of James, "Curly Jim" Hamrick, a son of David and Elizabeth (Miller) Hamrick, was born about 1824 and died about 1890. He married Jane Miller about 1848. Jane, a daughter of Thomas and Ann (Pritt) Miller, was born in 1827 and died about 1856. Julia married George W. Wolverton around 1861. George died in 1897. I believe Julia lived until 1905. If you have any information on either George or Julia, please let me know. I'm stumped. Thanks, Atty

Looking for information on the Byers and Blanton families who intermarried with the Hamricks and Bridges in NC. Specifically, I'm looking for ancestral information on Joseph Byers (c. 1794) and his wife, Nancy Blanton (c. 1797). I have nothing prior to Joseph Byers on the Byers side nor anything prior to Nancy's father, Burwell Blanton, on that side. Has anyone else done research on this piece of Hamrick intermarriage? Hello Ted. First of all I have been told by several people on the internet to contact you because I have alot of information and am seeking more on the HAMRICK Family. My Wife is a HAMRICK. But, I am reading about your request of information on the BYERS Family. I have a small amount of information, starting with James Meeks BYERS married to Sarah Davis, no other information, other than 1 son James Walter BYERS born Jan 4, 1824 in North Carolina, married to Mary Ann Brandon. He died 1885 in Texas. They had 9 known children 6 Girls and 3 Boys. I quess I could keep going on and on, but I need to know if this is the direction you are also going.
