    3. Hi Helen, I've been corresponding with a SC Hamrick who would be interested in the Hamrick reunion in Cleveland County, however, I've lost the original message giving pertinent info on when & where. Would it be too much to ask if you could e-mail the info to him? Thank you so much for your help. Judy [email protected]

He married Nancy Blanton, daughter of Burwell Blanton and Phoebia Margaret Bridges. Various children and grandchildren of Joseph Byers intermarried with Hamricks; including his granddaugher, Cansas Ellen Byers, who married my great-grandfather, James Young "JY" Hamrick. I was hoping someone else might have worked out that family line a bit farther. Ted Smith [email protected]

    2. With apologies, I would like to request that the original information here on the first and second generation of the Hamricks be repeated. I lost some data from my hard drive and missed the first installment. I prefer not to read a book backwards.

If it is the latter, then what do you want to know? One thing you should know for sure is that John didn't died in Loudoun County. Are you the Richard in Staunton, VA? Was someone in the family connected with a funeral home or something? Also what format is the file you attached to the note? I have not seen that file extension before, and I am wondering what program it works with. Steven A. Bridges [email protected]

    2. J. R. and other, here's a copy of a note I sent a while back on my recent Hamrick line. Joseph W. Hamrick had three wives. I knew of two from my aunt who helped me 37 years ago when I was starting in genealogy. I wrote down her information on a femily tree poster and then, recently when I got serious about all this, I couldn't confirm the first wife and concluded that I had made a mistake those many years ago. But, I got independent confirmation recently: His first wife was Mary Lanicks. I know nothing more about her. His second wife was Frances Cogar. Joseph and Frances had eight children. Joseph's third wife was Margaret Burris (Burrows). They had ten children. He died about 1885 at age about 92. I will put together additional information on this line (Despite all those children I think I'm the only one researching this line!) and post it to the list. --Dick Ross

    3. To all, One, I do not profess to ask people to accept my theory as "Gospel" because it isn't. It's the best guess at this time. The best way to attack it is not to try and prove it, but to try and disprove it. But I will agree that we should accept a basic framework, and move on to the next generations keeping in mind that we always need to look for better information.. As for Sarah Hambrick.. I will answer your note later tonight and explain. You have your Joseph's mixed up, and it is easy to do because I had the same problem. It is a very long explanation so it may take a while, be patient... Steven A. Bridges J R. Patrick HAMRICK Sr went to court to claim : inheritance from Roger DAY, Elizabeth's father. Patrick basically : established that he was the only (or the closest) living relative to : Roger DAY. 3. Steve and others, I agree with Steve's data on the first two generations. I was missing that Patrick Jr was born in Richmond Co, Va. and had him born in Prince William or King George. Sarah Hamrick asked you about Joseph who left Va. Elsewhere you had that Joseph moved to Bedford Co, Va; Franklin Co, Va; Wilkes Co, NC; and on to Greene Co, Ga where he died. While he was in Franklin Co, Va he and his son Joseph were probably recorded at the same time. I also agree with you and others that we should accept what you have presented as the "Gospel" for now and work on the third generation on down and try to discover new data on grandchildren and their descendants. That is basically what I am trying to do with the Hamrick web page. Put down the best current descendants and asking anyone who finds new data to contact me and help change it. I need a lot of help. Genealogy is an addictive habit... What do you consider documentation? I can referred you to records that help support or confirm most of my version of the first two generations. Since I don't want to write the next Hamrick Generations, tell me what items interest you most and I will tell you where to look. Don't tell me everything because I will ignore you ... sorry.. but true. I can document most, if not all, the first two generations.. gets harder after that... I would suspect that J. R. McKinney can also document the first two generations as he has a pretty good collection of HAMRICK data. J.R., do you have any documents which would disprove any part of the first two generations? or better yet, prove it! Steven A. Bridges [email protected]
