I am trying to find the parents of M.C. Hamrick. Here is what I have so far: M.C. Hamrick b.9-3-1856 marr. Priscilla abt 1873 d. 5-2-1908 buried at Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Rutherford Co. There children that I know of are: Thomas "Frank" Hamrick b. 6-3-1876 marr. Sallie Dedman d. 1-30-1945 Bethel Cem. James W. Hamrick b. 6-3-1874 d. 3-20-1942 Bethel Cem. J. C. Hamrick b. abt 1882 A.A. Hamrick b. abt. 1883 The earliest records I have found for M.C. is from the 1880 Cleveland Co. Census. He moved to Rutherford County soon after. I have checked the books on the Hamrick families that are in the Cleveland Co Mem. Library with no luck. In the Ruth. Co. Deeds I found a deed from Ella, M.C., John, and Thomas Hamrick to J.B. Goode in 1897. Could this be his brothers and sister, maybe land that was inherited? Does anyone have a connection with this family? I seem to have hit a brick wall. Thanks for anything!!! Lisa Bowen Hamrick
Dan and other Hamrick's, I found the same data on the 1731 PA Hamrick's and thought I had found the Hamrick ancestor also. I did not know that S C Jones had written his book using that data. I tried tracing the family of Georg and it seemed that all his children stayed in PA as far as the records of marriages and births were concerned. Chuck told me he had traced them them down 3 generations and no males ever went to VA. I had one German Cousin "Doll" that married one of the daughters but I could not find any connection to Patrick. I had one ancestor that wrote in the late 1800's that we were descendant's of the Patrick "from" Ireland. That is the only data I have on Georg Hamerich. J R
O.K. I can't resist: I'm hearing that the Snow ("snow") Louther (Lowther) was no titanic but it is as unsinkable as Molly Brown. With apologies, I am. . . [email protected] DAN HAMRICK HAMRICK MEDIA INC. 8685 East 61st Street South No. 8 Tulsa OK 74133 Phone: 918-249-2135
OH HOW TRUE!!! And how many generations of ANYBODY'S family, barring the ones completely started in this generation had LESS than 6 kids? Yes, Dan, you're right - Patrick's descendants are certainly PROLIFIC Sarah danhamrick wrote: > There would be few better clues that they weren't related to some of us > Hamricks than evidence that they didn't reproduce. NO TELEVISION AND PLENTY OF EXTRA FARM WORK. Harley
That must be why whenever you see the name for the ship it's the Snow "Louther" The name of the ship is really the "Louther"? Thanks
A "snow" was a small sailing ship. [Source: The A to Zax Dictionary for Historian and Genealogists.]
There would be few better clues that they weren't related to some of us Hamricks than evidence that they didn't reproduce. Abundantly. For at least a half century, the mystery of the source of the Hamricks on the ship Snow Lowther has been discussed and debated. Mamie Hamrick mentioned it in a footnote in her book, "The Hamrick Family and Indian Lore," a book about the thousands of West Virginia Hamricks, in 1938. I mention it here to invite some discussion of it because I believe it does raise some valid questions. The Hamricks on the Snow Lowther have been discounted rather reliably as the source of the descendants of Patrick Hamrick of Virginia because Patrick Hamrick and some of his sons were in Virginia prior to it arrival in 1731. My own belief is that Patrick Hamrick was in Virginia about 1690 and Roger Day is documented to have been in Virginia in 1706. I would like to hear comment from the premiere researchers Tressie Nealy, Stephen Bridges, J.R. McKinney and others on this. On the other hand, it seems unlikely to me that the Snow Lowther Hamricks did not have any descendants in America. (And we hear almost nothing about them.) If they were typical Hamricks, they should have had thousands by now. So does anyone know anything for certain about them? Can the information be documented? I'm just trying to generate discussion or, as some of my friends would put it, just being my provocative self. On our family tree, these names are mentioned as arriving from Rotherdam on October 14, 1731. My cousin who has been researching the Hamricks for 40 years says the ship came originally from Ireland with a stop over in Rotherdam. Roger Day came from Ireland with Patrick Hamrick Sr., who is my original ancestor. My line is from John Hamrick, one of Patrick's son. John's son was Daniel Hamrick, then James Lloyd Hamrick, then William Bertrad Hamrick, then Florence Hamrick , then Bennett Elmo Dennis , then me, Charlotte Dennis Davis. Our line came from Fauquier County,Va to West Virginia to southern Ohio. Want more information on the Hamrick, write to me with some specifics. Ok? char p.s. Your line is who?
