Thanks so much Darlene for this sweet message, my laptop is acting up, I got out here to my living room today, with the walker and will try to answer messages and do another bit of compilation of my book. Thanks to those who have called and written, I am feeling ok today, so sorry to sound whiny before, its just that I was supposed to be on the mainland now, getting ready for our Hamrick reunion that was supposed to be this weekend! Well, Aug will be fine, and I am real glad my neice Sarah and sister Janet will be able to attend now because it is in August, more book orders arrived, I am up to 22 now! Thanks for acknowledging the California branch of our family, it has turned into a real cousins effort at this point, SOOOOO many cousins have participated and continue to help me with this I feel VERY grateful and overjoyed, and cannot WAIT til the book pages are numbered and at the printer, its funny, I feel like this is something so worthwhile and I have all of YOU to thank for it, I can't adequately express the depths of my gratitude for the help and kindness I have received. Jill! Sure wish I could be there to help out -- Ham(b)ricks are Ham(b)ricks regardless of line and I'm a very fast typist. Have done most of what you're trying to accomplish -- chill out -- it'll get done and be wonderful. I'll be in Sacramento until Aug. 12. Will I miss the reunion up there?? Jane
I just received an E-Mail from relative of James David McClellan, brother of Elizabeth McClellan Overstreet (my MS grandmother). She says the following,"that there was a Aaron David McClelland in the First Regiment of Mississippi Light Artillery, CSA who served with John M. Hambric (missing k). Tradition has it that Sabra's brother John and Aaron were in the war together and that John brought Aaron home for a visit. Here he met Sabra." Aaron David McClellan & Sabra Hambrick end up in Montgomery Co, MS. My guestion is does anyone recognize this JOHN M. HAMBRIC (missing K)??? Alice in CA
Thanks SueEllen, I sure appreicate how that ant must of felt on your broken leg, all my anxiety is just toooooooo much~and this heightened sensitivity is intense too. sure makes me grateful for the things I took for granted before like walking to my living room to look up something! I look forward to getting back to my ordinary life and my favorite family-Hamrick. thanks, jill : The good news is THIS TOO SHALL PASS. : Suellen :
Am I blue? Yup, I am feeling blue and could use any messages of hope and caring today, I am half way thru this broken leg ordeal, I am trying to keep my spirits up~taint easy today for some reason, gee could it be that I am still stuck in this 10 x 12' room? My sisters visit has come and gone, it was nice, we had some laughs. I have alot to be grateful for, my husband takes good care of me, I still have to use this walker. I am unable to do what I need to do right now to finish compiling my book, but I will have time before I leave for California, its almost done, I will feel much less anxious when it is done, I have 17 books preordered, and am printing 50 copies, so I will have enough, what I still need to do keeps rattling around in my brain, maybe if I write it down it will help me. To do~ 1) I need to stamp the numbers on all pages and create a table of contents. 2) I still need to put in changes from a few recent emails, with updated people, places and dates, mostly from Henry and Rachel Hamrick's descendants~ glad to have them! 4) I need to make sure I have all descendants photos included in correct family section. Right now I have lots of photos for descendants of Cosy, Sarah, Amador, Henry, and Ceil, I can always use more tho. The descendant photos really make this edition of the 'Hamrick's of Jackson, California' a special collection. 5) A few documents and photos still need captions added. 6) Then I need to take it all down to the printer and sit there while they run each page, so I can say, "yes thats a good copy" because I want the photos done right, and then have them make 50 copies of each good copy, there are about 50 pages of photos, in the 220 page book. I figure it will take a day. Then each copy will be bound with comb binding, which is the easiest for future copying of the book. 7) Then I need to pack and come to California, and I tell you I can hardly wait to get there! I wish I was there now, getting ready for our weekend that I was supposed to be there now for. I suppose that is why I am feeling blue, I am stuck here, unable to complete the last few little tasks before I take this to the printer and get on the plane.....'frankly Gertrude, I would rather be in California' .... chortle, chortle. So I am glad I wrote my to do list, that helps, seems alot less than what I thought, and I'll be there when I get there, Aug 10. Thanks for listening, Jill ~aloha~ from jill in maui http://www.maui.net/~mauifun/genweb.htm
Can anyone tell me the answer to this question? jill : To: [email protected] : Subject: Hambrick Hamrick/Head : Date: Tuesday, July 14, 1998 9:49 AM : : Can you tell me the address of this site with Benjamin Head and Sarah : Hamrick? :
Jill, I'm sitting here feeling your pain. I broke my leg in three places while I was 8 months pregnant. There is nothing else to say. I know how you feel. I went out on the porch to sit for awhile and an ant crawled up in my cast. He crawled around and around until I was literally screaming. I tried to press him between the cast and my flesh but he just kept crawling. After about an hour he crawled out and went home. How do we get in these messages. The good news is THIS TOO SHALL PASS. Hi all, In searching the Hambrick pages - I have a question that someone might be able to answer - I have been looking for Sabra/Sabry Hambrick McClellan, according to tombstone, she was born in 1840 and died in 1930. (Montgomery Co., MS) She married Aaron David McClellan about 1866. I have not found her parents. However, I ran across a Margaret Hamrick, dau of Thomas Jefferson Hamrick born 1839. Margaret married Umphrey Wells and had a child but it seems Umphrey must have died in CW(?) in 1863 - I see nothing else about Margaret. Could Margaret be my missing "Sabra"? Could she have married for a second time? I also find other Hamricks marrying McClellans .... I would like to know where Margaret was ahe was married to Umphrey Wells and, possibly, what happen to her child? Alice in CA

Bambi et all, I hope your family fued was not over a pig like the families on the Tug River. I have a Giles Otey Hambrick b 23 Mar 1835 in Goggensville, Franklin, VA. I could never find the town before but on a large scale map I found it just over "Grassy Hill" West of Rocky Point, Franklin, VA. Goggnsville looks like it happens at a 'Y' in the road. I would assume that all the Hambricks born in Gogginville would be closely related. Giles Otey was on the 1840 census in Franklin County but after that he moved to IL and then to Dallas, TX where he died at age 99 on 2 Sep 1934. I am looking forward to the names and dates your relative finds and any additional data from others. J R
Dear Barbara, Finally a line I can help with a little. David HAMRICK, b. 27 Jan 1830 - d. 2 Jun 1895 (source: Records of Jasper County, Georgia From the Georgia Department of Archives and History by Robert Scott Davis, Jr., page 80 and tombstone at Concord Baptist Cemetery) was really James David Hamrick. He was married to Susan Ann SCOGGINS, but I've never found a date or location for the marriage. The cemetery, by the way, is on Temple Road near Carrollton; his will was dated 3 May 1895 and is found in Will Book A, pages 337-338. Susan Ann was born 19 Apr 1835 and died 20 Dec 1934, according to her tombstone. Her father was Gilliam SCOGINS (one G). She was from Chattooga County, GA. They had either 9 or 10 children (I only have the names of 9, but I think she listed 10 on one of the censuses; but I'm not sure). Anyway, the children were: Margaret E., Francis, James David (the doctor), Gilliam A., Elizabeth, Mary, D. Harrison, William and Lula. James David Jr., as you wrote, was born 12 Mar 1858 and died 7 May 1937. He married Priscilla Neal GARDNER on 29 Sep 1886 in Carroll County, GA (marriage book F, page 486). Priscilla was born, possibly (I cannot document this one), on 28 Jun 1866 in Giles County, TN. (And if this is verified, then I wonder if she was a GARNER instead of a GARDNER and if I'm collaterally related to her, too.) She is said to have died 21 Apr 1961. They were the parents of: James Daniel Hamrick, III, George, Neal, Gertrude, Norvell, and Malcolm. Gertrude married Ralph Sebastian BROWN, and his grandson, Earl Brown, provided her date of birth; she was his father's step-mother. James David Hamrick (Sr.) was the son of Rebecca KEITH and Harrison HAMRICK. Pat [email protected] At 08:45 PM 7/8/98 EDT, you wrote: >Here's all I know of my line of Hamrick's, which is very little. Dear Steve, JR McKinney and anyone else I can yell to: I found a relative who actually had asked questions years ago when people were still living and never got a chance to follow-up.She says Bedford Curtis Hambrick b.7/1/1883 Gogginsville, Franklin County, Va. married Cora Genetta Linkous b. 7/2/1888 in Bluefield, Mercer County, W.Va. Married 9/25/1905 in Eckman, McDowell County, W. Va. obtained license in Welch, W.V. left next day 9/26/1905 to settle in Roanoke. Bedford Curtis Father- Henry Samuel Hambrick (used Samuel) Mother- Mary Francis Hall Children- Bedford Curtis Hambrick Thomas Eddie Hambrick Minnie Lee Hambrick (spouse Ed Crawford) Bedford's step-mother- Fannie(unk) 1/2 bro Russell who went to live in Baltimore Maryland 1/2 sis Hallie Now the notes get murkey here: Said has Samuel Ezra Hambrick of Rocky Mount Co. maybe Henry Samuel's Father not sure. Henry Samuels brothers (?) listed as Riley, Joe and Eli- buried in Grogginsville Methodist Church Cemetery. Bedford and Cora had a daughter Mabel also buried there. Most other Hambricks buried in family plot at Fair View Cemetery (Roanoke or Salem) not sure which. Said she will go there and write down all info from stones for me. Does any of this jog any memories? Oh yes said Samuel had sister Lucy and somebodies mother (maybe Samuel's was Mary Hodges) Bambi Woods
Spoke to some of my Hambrick relatives in Roanoke Co. All of them believe I should be searching for Samuel in Franklin County. One said Samuel is buried in Fair Grove cemetery in Salem, Va. and she'll go over and take the info off his gravestone. Sorry this took so long, but this is a relative I've had a feud with for the last 2 years and had to work up my nerve to call her and ask for help. Bambi
