Hamrick and took pictures also. He is buried at Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery. Very nice cemetery. The only Hamrick that I could find at that cemetery, but some markers were unreadable. I was looking in particular for Gilson or Jilson Hamrick. After I get unpacked and get my things together, I can give you location of cemetery.

I may have found my Burwell H. Hambrick in the 1840 Cherokee County AL Census but I would like some comments on it. I have found a B. H. Hambright (not Hambrick) with the following entries: 2M=under 5, 1M=5-10, 1M=30-40, 1F=5-10 and 1F=20-30 The ages, sexes and total number of persons totally agree with my Burwell Hambrick family for 1840. Someone please comment on the probability of this being Burwell Hambrick. There was also a C. Hambrick in the Cherokee County 1840 Census with the following entries: 1M=under 5, 1M=20-30, 1F=5-10, 2F=20-30, 1F=40-50 I am wondering if this is a relative. Does anyone know who this C. Hambrick is? Thanks for all comments. Ike Porter

Steven, What is your source for the birthdate of "my" Burrell H. Hambrick being born in 1810? I have seen in several places that his birthdate is referenced as 1790 or 1795. It would help clear some of my confusion up greatly if this birthdate has a primary source. Thanks. Also, if the Burwell mentioned in Tressie's data was born in 1788, he would have been 17 in the 1805 bid for guardianship by his brother. In those days and location, was "legal age" 18 or 21? If it was 18, it just seems needless for his brother to have become guardian of him and paid a $500 bond right before he reached his majority. Unless, of course, there was a lot more than $160 at stake which was the amount mentioned in the court records. Thanks again for everyone's help. The Hambrick end of my research is very new for our branch of the family. And GA isn't always the easiest location to research, but have run into lots of helpful people. Tressie, How do you know that Burwell, son of Thomas, died in the war of 1812? Is he listed someplace that way? I have been trying to piece all the information that people on the Hamrick list have so kindly passed my way. With rootsweb being down, my posts have gone unanswered to the list, so I thought I would try and post individually. My Berrell H. Hambrick seems to have sprung from no where other than "of Dekald co., GA". Some of the dates that have been passed along to me mesh so neatly with what I DO know that it is almost too tempting to assume that my Berrell and your Burwell are the same person. Back to my original question, is he listed as dead on any 1812 list. If he isn't, why the assumption that he was killed in action? Just wondering and trying to clear up my own questions before I go down any other road of possibility. Ike and others............... I have posted in the past that I am the descendant of Berrell Hampton Hambrick, born about 1790 who married Elizabeth. I have confirmation of this. But in trying to find out who Berrell H. Hambrick's parents were I have run into some confusion. [email protected] sent me some info on a Burwell Hambrick who was under the guardianship of his brother Joseph (ca. 1805) in Jackson Co, GA. Joseph and this Burwell's father was a Thomas Hambrick. I was wondering if anyone had connected this Thomas Hambrick with the Thomas Hamrick (abt 1757 - 1798) who was married to Sarah Scurlock and was the son of Joseph Hamrick who married Margaret. Are those two Thomas's the same person or is it just a matter of coincidence that, because Thomas Hamrick died in 1798 that any underage children would have needed a guardian. Am I even on the right track? I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Any other leads would keep me jumping. Right now I am at a dead end with this. We can trace him back to GA and with that the info stops (or least the info that we have found thus far). Thanks for all of your continued help and suggestions. Kathy in Florida [email protected]
The two Burwell's are different people. Tressie

The marriage record you quote would imply her maiden name was MICHAEL or MICALL mispelled. Daisy obviously was not married prior to Samuel HARNISH so what was her maiden name. Have you checked Frederick County, MD marriages from 1865 to 1872 to see if a MICHAEL/MICALL female married... or married a HAMRICK? There are no intermarriages prior to 1865. Chances are that Ezra's daughter was living with him in 1870 and married in 1870 or 1871, and perhaps died at birth. I would get the names of his daughters from the 1850, 1860 and 1870 censuses, and see which ones you cannot account for... based upon his will and the 1880 census and marriage records. This might lead to an answer to your question. Steven A. Bridges [email protected]

As for Nellie's birth record, write to: Clerk of Courts Jerauld County Court House Wessington Springs, SD 57382 Include a SASE (business size) and a money order for $7.00 for a certified copy. Provide the exact date and place of the birth and as much other data as possible. Also include your direct relationship to this person and whether the person is still living. If Nellie is still living, you might have to send for it under her name. It is very possible that there was a delayed birth certificate filed in the 1920's or 1930's so make sure they check those records also. You may learn more if you look for Nellie on the 1910 Jerauld County, SD census in Alpena as a young child with her parents. Good chance they stayed put at least three years. You could also check for Willifred BECKER as a child on the 1920 Spink County, SD census with his parents. Hope this helps. Steven A. Bridges [email protected] --------------54CE3A20326A--

Hambrick and Burrel Hambrick of Van Zandt County, TX. I know that George B. was in the Civil War and is buried at Confederate Mound in Woodlawn Cemetery in Chicago. What is the source for his military service? Also Burrel purchased land in Tallapposa County, AL and that record states he is " of De Kalb County GA". Also what is the source for Burrell's middle name of Hampton? All I have ever seen is the initial "H". Looking forward to your reply, Ike Porter [email protected]
