My APOLOGY for returning the note in question to the list. I posted a public note and wasn't paying attention that the reply came back private. For some reason I always lose the automatic mailto address from lists when I hit "re: mail" so I just copied the normal one like I always do. I should have been more careful. It was the wrong thing to do, and it won't be a problem in the future. Steven A. Hamrick's~ If the below message was part of a PUBLIC message to this list and not privately sent to Steven Bridges then it is a breach of etiquette on the list, if it was sent privately to Steven it should not of been sent back to the whole list. This the type of "discussion" which I do NOT allow on this list. It is counter productive nee destructive, and amounts to a public flame, and is not acceptable. Guess what? This is NOT a democracy, this is a list I started, which I maintain and I set the rules. Period. End of discussion. NO PUTDOWNS are ALLOWED to the list, about individuals. Private messages should remain private or sent to me for ajudication. This is NOT negotiable. Now we have lost one of our most knowledgable and helpful members and that is awful. I am very upset Steven Bridges has unsubscribed, he has always helped me and many many others, while encouraging folks to make their own discoveries. This list is for the cordial or at least civil discussion of family history. If you forgot the rules on flames they are at http://www.maui.net/~mauifun/email.htm Any questions????? Someone let me know if this was publicly sent or privately sent please. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding, this is NOT easy. I believe I have answered a whole lot more questions on this site than you, I don't believe anyone has ever said I gave them bum information, or mislead them. But, I will gladly temper my remarks. As of now, I will keep my information to myself. Maybe Hans George can make a comeback. Steve [email protected] wrote: > > Why do you think I asked the question ? If I had the date of Joseph W. Let's try a reality check... Mary HAMRICK was born August 1, 1787 in Greenbrier County, VA... Joseph W. HAMRICK, who married Frances COGAR, was born in 1799 in Greenbrier county, VA... now, how logical does it appear to be that Joseph was Mary's father? No offense, but a lot of time is wasted correcting wrong information. It would help everyone if people would be more careful when expounding information they are not sure about. That includes me. Due to personal problems, I will be dropping out of this mailing list and HAMRICK research for a while. Good luck to all Hamrick researchers. Steven A. WV'ers, Does anyone know where a copy of Annals of Webster County by Samson Miller can be found? I am interested in Miller genealogy of Webster, VA-WV. J R
Hello Cousins, HELP !! I have information on Mary Hamrick and Samuel Dobbins that is somewhat confusing and I need "HELP". One person has given me the dates for Mary born 1786 and Samuel born abt 1791. Another person has given the dates for Mary born 1787 and Samuel born Unknown. Both people say that this couple was married in 1808. Now the REAL PROBLEM, One of the persons say that Mary's parents were Benjamin Hamrick and Nancy McMillion, the other has her parents as Joseph W. Hamrick and Frances Cogar. I need a concensus. Is it possible that two Mary HAMRICKS', born a year apart could marry a man with the same exact name, Samuel DOBBINS ? and marry in the same year ?. Any help will be much appreciated. Or maybe someone else can confuse me a little more. LOL Harley & Jeanne (Hamrick) Briden Norwalk, California
For the past several months I have received help from various folks on this list in my search for my ancestor Meshack Hambrick (1793-c1875) who apparently came from Jasper County Georgia to Alabama prior to 1819. Here's an interesting twist: For many years, various researchers have compiled lists of the children of Meshack Hambrick and his wife Rebecca (Kelly) Hambrick (1796-c1875). These lists always include their youngest son Harrison T. Hambrick (born circa 1839). Recently while at the Lowndes Co. Alabama courthouse doing some research, I came upon several documents that list Harrison T. Hambrick as the "ward" of Meshack Hambrick - in other words, not his son as has previously been thought. I was unsuccessful in locating the origin of the guardianship proceedings. Several books are missing from their early records unfortunately. The dates do not work out for Harrison to be Meshack's grandson. That leads me to believe that he must be a nephew. For what it's worth, Harrison T. married Missouri Matilda Tomlinson in 1859 and died before 1865. Missouri Matilda Tomlinson Hambrick subsequently married Robert McDaniel in 1866 and Miles McCarty in 1871. The only child of Harrison T. and Missouri Matilda was Laura C. Hambrick who was born in 1860 in Lowndes County and married John R. Harkey in 1878. They subsequently moved to San Saba County, Texas. So - I have an extra Harrison T. Hambrick. Does anyone know where he might belong? Are you missing one? That might give me a clue (finally!) as to where my Meshack Hambrick fits into this puzzle. Interestingly, Meshack himself was presumably a ward of Micajah Stinson when he was a child. Recent delving into Micajah Stinson's lineage does not offer any clues as to a family connection. Help? Advice? Thanks David Sanders ([email protected])

Hello, everybody I am seeking information on Wilhelm Bernhard (later, William) Homrig of Wausau, Marathon Co., Wisconsin. Listed as WILLIAM HAMMRICK in the 1860 U. S. Census, Wisconsin, Marathon Co., Town of Jenny, p. 73: 27 yrs old (thus born ca. 1833) b. in Prussia, wife Fried[e]ricke [Schwartz], 19 yrs old (thus b. ca. 1841) b. in Prussia, son William [H.] b. Apr 1860 in Marathon Co. I know William and Friedericke married on 3 July 1859 in Jenny, Marathon (now in Lincoln) Co., WI. William served as sheriff of Marathon Co. in 1871 and 1872. He took a bullet in the chest in a shoot-out in the line of duty. He never really fully recovered, but did live for about 15 years, dying on 25 Feb 1887. If anyone can help, I would be overjoyed to hear from you. In advance, thanks a million. Alan
