His mother was called Hannah and was a Londoner, we think. Frederick moved to London following release from the Royal Engineers after WWI, where he won a Military Medal for bravery, he was a tunneller. He was illegitimate and took his mothers surname, Eliza Hampson. As I say not sure of the link as Frederick was born in Cheshire but it does seem a bit coincidental re. Camberwell connection.
