Bob, I'm not sure I can help you very much with your HAMPSON ancestors because the information you've supplied is too "recent" for a connection between us. What I know about my Hampsons is that their name was also spelled Hamson. It appears that they were living in Sussex County, NJ, at the time of the Revolutionary War. In the early 1800's they migrated to Beaver and Washington Counties in western PA. My current challenge is trying to figure out when they first arrived in New Jersey and where they came from. There was a Caleb Hamson who appeared on the 1777 tax list of the Philip Philipse Patent, Philipse Precinct, in Putnam County, NY. Since Tarrytown is also in Putnam County, it could be that your grandmother, Laura Augusta Hampson, is descended from him. It still remains to be seen whether my Hampsons are his descendants. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Beth
