I am trying to assemble a complete databse of Hampsons past and present. I have about twenty five thousand entries at the present time. Some of these are obviously for the same person (birth and marriage for instance). The ultimate aim is to put all this information on line as a series of databases, one for each type of entry, parish register, civil registration, military service etc. One specific problem I am trying to solve is the life of my great-grandparents Alfred Ross Hampson and Louisa Mary Ann Hampson nee Bannister. They were both on the "Halls" in the late nineteenth century but reords are regrettably few and far between unless you were one of the very top stars.I have three fixed date/place records - their marriage in 1877, my grandfathers birth in 1879 and the 1881 census. Beyond this is mainly conjecture. I am about to order up some death certificates one of which would seem to be Gt-Grandfathers but i will wait until that is confirmed. The release of the 1901 census next january will be very useful. Ralph Frank Hampson, debolbec@bigpond.net.au, Canberra
